Sprint Filter builds media down to 7 µm, but not for this airbox. The card for the Bullet B5 500 EFI holds three entries, and the CM195P14 is the last one in the fine direction: 14 µm, with nothing below it. That changes the shape of the decision. You are not picking a middle setting with room to move later — you are deciding whether this machine needs the fine end of what is offered at all, and the answer comes from the roads you use rather than from the motorcycle.

The end of the line, and what stands before it

Three media are listed against this housing: the 14 µm non-woven, an 80 µm standard weave and an 85 µm racing cloth. No water-repellent option and no off-road medium appear here, so the fine end stops at the CM195P14. In practice that makes the choice binary rather than graded — standard cloth or fine non-woven — and it is worth making deliberately, because the two behave differently in the same air rather than better and worse.

What the finer medium costs, and what it does not

It costs flow: 1,800 against the 5,050 l/m²/sec of the weave. On a 500 single, whose demand sits well below either figure, that is a margin given up rather than a restriction added — but it is a real reduction, and it deserves naming before any benefit is. What it does not cost is much: this element lists at around eight per cent above the standard one, close enough that price should not decide anything here. And it adds no power. A drop-in filter does not make a standard machine noticeably stronger; this one is bought for what reaches the engine, not for what leaves it.

Care and cleaning

The CM195P14 is cleaned dry, like the rest of the range: compressed air applied to the clean side and worked outwards, never against the direction of flow. If the deposit is greasy, lukewarm water with a mild detergent will shift it, followed by a full rinse.
