DescriptionThe whole story▼
Built to the exacting standards that have made K-Tech a fixture in British Superbike and Isle of Man TT paddocks, the DDS Closed STK Cartridge Kit transforms the stock forks of the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 (2012–2023) into a precision damping platform that is fully approved for Superstock 1000 competition. Every component has been engineered with race-grade materials and tolerances, giving club racers and professional teams alike a cartridge that simply outperforms anything it replaces.
Key Features
- Patented Direct Damping System (DDS) eliminates cavitation at the source, delivering consistent, fade-free performance even under the harshest race-day conditions
- 30-way independent compression and rebound adjustment lets you dial in damping with genuine granularity — asymmetric damping circuits respond faster and more dynamically than conventional setups
- 20 mm piston and 31 mm pilot valves maximise oil flow through the cartridge, producing sharper, more communicative front-end feel
- 8 mm piston rod minimises system offset, keeping geometry true and predictable through braking and corner entry
- 18 mm preload adjustment range for fine spring-rate matching without swapping hardware
- Increased stroke compared to the OEM cartridge unlocks greater suspension travel and improved compliance over rough circuits
- Homologated for Superstock 1000 classes — a direct, legal upgrade for serious competition
Engineering & Build Quality
The DDS architecture is the foundation of K-Tech's cartridge range and sets this kit apart from conventional emulator-style upgrades. Rather than restricting oil flow through fixed valves, the Direct Damping System uses a pressurised, spring-loaded circuit that maintains a constant working pressure across the full range of fork movement. This means damping force is proportional and immediate whether you are trail-braking into a hairpin at low speed or compressing the front end hard on a fast downhill approach.
The asymmetric damping circuit design separates compression and rebound into independent hydraulic paths. In practice this translates to a fork that absorbs bumps without the rebound fighting back, keeping the tyre in contact with the surface and the rider confident in the feedback they are receiving. The 31 mm pilot valves are a significant step up from standard cartridge valve diameters and are central to the improved response the DDS system delivers.
Track-Proven Pedigree
K-Tech suspension has been developed and refined at the highest levels of circuit racing, with results across the British Superbike Championship and at the Isle of Man TT validating the DDS platform in the most demanding real-world conditions imaginable. The Closed STK variant is specifically configured to comply with Superstock 1000 technical regulations, meaning you receive genuine race-specification internals within a legal homologated package — no compromise required.
Installation
For maximum safety and to ensure the system performs as intended, K-Tech strongly recommends installation by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre. Fitting requires specialist tools and techniques appropriate to high-performance suspension work. The kit includes three pairs of springs and dedicated spring-change tooling to cover initial setup and subsequent tuning sessions without additional equipment.
