Both Parts at Once
Ducati integrates the right-hand controls into the throttle assembly, so a single failed contact condemns the complete component. This unit renews both from one block of Ergal.
The First TFT Superbike
The 1199 carried a full colour display when everything else in the class still used a segment LCD. It showed lap times, gear position and every rider aid, and it made the competition look ten years old.
Sixty-Two Kilograms of Engine
The Superquadro weighs less than most 600 cc fours. Ducati used that to place mass exactly where the chassis wanted it, which is a large part of why the 1199 turns the way it does.
Sealed Elements
The contacts sit inside the machined body rather than behind a snap-fit cover. On a superbike washed hot after track use, that is the property that decides how long they last.
A Machined Throttle Bore
The tube rotates inside a bore cut on a machine rather than formed in a mould. It stays round, and on a ride-by-wire bike that consistency is what the fuelling assumes.
Black Anodised
Converted into the aluminium rather than sprayed onto it. Against red bodywork it stays out of the way, which is generally correct for anything on the bar.
Ergal 7075
An aerospace grade at roughly twice the yield strength of ordinary machined alloy. On a clamped component it is a structural choice rather than a cosmetic one.
Quick Shift as Standard
Ducati fitted a clutchless upshift system to the 1199 from launch. It was still unusual on a road bike in 2012 and it suited an engine with this much torque particularly well.
Ducati's Own Plug
Pre-wired to the original connector so nothing is spliced. The exchange is mechanical, takes about a quarter of an hour and leaves nothing in the diagnostics.
