One Component, One Price
Ducati sells the switches only as part of the throttle housing. When a contact starts hesitating after a few winters, that is what the parts counter quotes.
The Volume Monster
The 821 outsold the 1200 comfortably because it was enough motorcycle for most people. That pattern goes back to the original 600 and 900 being sold alongside each other.
Seventy-Five Horsepower When Wanted
Urban mode is not a marketing setting on a bike used in traffic every day. It softens the response as well as cutting the output, and it is selected from this side of the bar.
Winter Is the Test
An 821 is frequently its owner's only motorcycle, which means road salt rather than dry Sundays. Salt in a moulded joint attacks a terminal from the inside across several seasons.
A Machined Bore
Cut rather than formed, so the throttle tube still turns concentrically after ten years of daily use. Moulded bores relax and the grip develops movement that never leaves again.
Grown Into the Surface
Anodising is electrochemical rather than applied. Nothing lifts from an edge, which on a bike parked outdoors through winters is the difference that shows first.
Ergal 7075
Roughly twice the strength of ordinary machined aluminium. On a naked bike parked on city streets, a low-speed drop is a matter of when rather than whether.
Steel, Deliberately
The trellis survived on the 821 long after Ducati's superbikes had abandoned frames entirely. It is heavier than aluminium and it is what a Monster is supposed to look like.
The Harness Untouched
Factory connector, nothing spliced. Fifteen minutes with a hex key and the job is finished, and it undoes in the same time.
