The R1200RS is the boxer with a half fairing and sporting intent. The JP CO BM018 replaces its combined throttle housing and switch block with one unit machined from Ergal 7075.

A Sports Tourer in the Old Sense
The RS designation goes back to the 1970s and has always meant the same thing at BMW: a boxer with enough fairing to make speed comfortable and not so much that it becomes a tourer. The 2014 R1200RS is the liquid-cooled reading of that idea, and it remains one of the more underrated motorcycles the company has built.
What the Half Fairing Changes
Air is directed over the tank and past the rider's chest rather than around the bars, which means the hands stay in relatively still air at speed. That improves comfort and, incidentally, means the right-hand controls are less exposed to direct rain than they are on the naked R. It does not make them dry.
Switch and Throttle as One Component
The right-hand controls are built into the throttle housing on this generation, so they cannot be renewed separately. This unit replaces both, milled from a single billet, using the motorcycle's original connector. Nothing in the wiring is changed and no fault codes result from the swap.

JetPrime also mills the model designation into the flank of this housing, and for an RS that version is an obvious choice. This part number is the plain one, for owners who would rather the cockpit stayed unmarked.
Ergal 7075
The alloy is the one used for aircraft structural fittings and racing chassis components, chosen here not for strength but because it machines to a crisp edge and takes anodising evenly. On a control the rider touches constantly, the quality of the machined step around each button is what the hand actually reads.
