Homologation, With a Crate
Two hundred and fifty machines built to satisfy World Superbike, each supplied with a race kit containing a titanium exhaust, a dedicated ECU, racing bodywork and stands. The kit is the reason the number exists.
Platform-Specific
This housing is cut for the F4 chassis rather than for the wider MV range, which produces a tidier cable run behind bodywork that leaves very little space around the clip-ons.
Prepared for Circuits
RCs are ridden, and a shorter throttle cam is a standard preparation. The time spent rotating the wrist to full opening is time the motorcycle is not accelerating, which on a 212 hp machine is measured in metres.
Nothing Electrical
Cable throttle. The kit ECU and the standard one both see exactly what they saw before, and the conversion reverses completely by refitting the original housing.
A Numbered Machine
Every RC carries a plaque and Reparto Corse graphics. Modifications to one are chosen for their reversibility above almost any other property, which is what makes a bolt-on mechanical change acceptable.
Cut From Solid
Ergal 7075 machined from billet rather than cast. The bore is cut, which gives a more consistent throttle action over years than a formed casting with a moulded cover manages.
Where the Kit Changes Things
An RC running its supplied race exhaust and ECU makes considerably more than the road specification allows, and the throttle response changes with it. The shorter cam suits that state of tune better than the standard travel does, which is presumably why so many of these bikes end up with one.
