Four Modes, All From Here
Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro, each reconfiguring power, ABS and traction. On a touring bike those change between a motorway and a gravel track within a single day.
Nineteen Inches at the Front
The compromise that makes the 950 usable on a loose surface without spoiling it on tarmac. It is a more honest choice than either seventeen or twenty-one would have been.
Three Finishes
Black, red and titanium, converted into the surface layer of the metal. An adventure bike's bar meets salt and gravel, neither of which respects a coated finish.
Salt Rather Than Rain
Water dries out of a moulded joint eventually. Road salt does not, and on a bike ridden through winters it attacks a terminal from the inside across several seasons.
Sealed Elements
Enclosed inside the machined body. There is no lid to lose tension and no seam for the salt to travel along in the first place.
Thirty Thousand Kilometre Services
The Testastretta 11 degree interval changed what a Ducati costs to keep. On a motorcycle covering real distance, that is the most important number in the whole specification.
A Screen You Can Move
Fifty millimetres of adjustment by hand at a standstill. On a bike bought for long distances that single detail decides whether the rider arrives fresh or deafened.
Built Down From the 1200
Ducati did not develop a smaller Multistrada from scratch; it took the full-size chassis and fitted the middleweight engine. The result is more motorcycle for the money than the price suggests.
Ridden Loaded
Panniers, a passenger and a topbox change how a tall bike behaves entirely. The 950 was set up expecting all three rather than being tested empty and sold optimistically.
