The JP ES 046 closes the RC8 R's air injection ports with billet plugs in place of the reed housings.

What Bolts to the Heads
Two reed assemblies with hoses from the airbox, admitting air on a closed throttle. They are the mechanical half of the system.
Kiska's Bodywork
Straight lines and hard angles at a time when every rival was rounded. The RC8 divided opinion completely and it has aged better than most of what was praised alongside it.
Fifteen-Year-Old Plastic
Reeds that have been heat cycled for that long are past their useful life whether or not they have failed yet. Removing them is one fewer thing to diagnose.
A Turned Plug
Solid billet with an O-ring in a machined groove. Nothing inside it and nothing to service for the life of the engine.
Both Cylinders
The seventy-five degree V-twin carries the arrangement twice and both sides have to be capped.
Mostly Track Bikes
Values fell far enough that the RC8 became an affordable circuit machine. Very few still carry their emissions hardware in any case.
Honest Readings
Air entering after combustion corrupts gas analysis, and an RC8 on a dyno is usually there for a reason.

Removing the system ends road legality in Europe, which on a track-only bike is rarely the deciding factor.
Adjustable to an Unusual Degree
Footpegs, handlebars, seat height and even the swingarm pivot position can be moved on an RC8 R. KTM built the motorcycle to be fitted to its rider rather than the other way round, which is one reason so many have survived into track use in good condition.
