The JP ES 020 replaces the Panigale V4 R's plastic reed housing with a billet cover that seals on an O-ring and has nothing inside it left to age.

Carbon Wings
Larger than the standard bike's and developed in the racing programme. Ducati publishes downforce figures rather than describing them as sporty.
An O-Ring, Not Compound
The joint separates cleanly years later with nothing to scrape from the sealing face, which is not true of anything bedded on jointing paste.
Before Any Mapping
Air entering the exhaust after combustion moves the readings, and every fuelling decision taken from those readings inherits the movement.
A Flat Machined Face
The head is finished where the housing sits, which is why an O-ring seals against it without any compound at all.
A Tidier Engine
On a motorcycle where the engine is part of the styling, a milled cover reads as considered where a plastic box reads as merely necessary.
Both Ends Need Closing
Removing the housing leaves an opening where the hose attached, and unfiltered air entering an intake is a worse outcome than the system ever was.
An Inspection Would Find Nothing
Original fastener positions, original torque and an unmarked sealing face. The exchange leaves no evidence beyond the cover itself, and the standard housing refits in twenty minutes with no replacement seals required whenever the motorcycle needs to be back at specification.
A Second-Hand Ducati With Plastic Housings
On a machine of ten years or more the housings are original unless somebody has already been in there, and their condition is a fair guide to how the motorcycle was stored. A housing that has gone chalky has been through more heat cycles than the odometer suggests.
A Homologation Special
The R exists so Ducati can go racing, which means most examples spend serious time on circuits with a full exhaust and a dedicated map. In that configuration the emissions hardware on the heads is simply mass and plumbing that the machine is never asked to use.
