The Version Most People Buy
As with the rest of the Ducati range, the S outsells the standard model. The suspension is what makes the difference on a real road.
Fitted Cold
Aluminium threads in a warm cylinder head are unforgiving. There is no reason to rush this and every reason to wait for the engine to cool.

Four cylinders in a very compact package means everything on the rear bank needs the airbox out before it can be reached at all.

This is a job for a quiet evening rather than for a paddock at eight in the morning. Everything about it is straightforward and none of it is quick, and a tank sitting on a bench is the wrong thing to discover an hour before a session.
The Electrical Half in Detail
A passive resistance inside a potted body with Ducati's own connector moulded on, presenting the value the controller expects from a healthy solenoid winding. Nothing is powered, nothing is generated and nothing can drift, which is what a part living next to a cylinder head needs to be.
A Realistic Time Estimate
Allow an evening rather than an hour. On a faired model the bodywork is most of it, on a naked machine the tank and airbox still have to come out, and the two components between them take about twenty minutes. Anybody promised half an hour has been told about the parts and not about the motorcycle.
