The Touring Four
A screen, a rack and a more relaxed riding position on the same 600 cc inline four. It is a lot of motorcycle for the money and it feels like it.
Preset, Not Programmable
There is no laptop, no software and no session on a dyno. JetPrime supplies the module with a curve worked out for that engine, and the owner's job ends at plugging it in. That is the whole difference between this and the programmable unit alongside it.
Buying With an Exhaust Already Fitted
This is the most common situation and the clearest case. A motorcycle running an aftermarket silencer on the standard map is working with a mixture the factory never intended it to have.
The Case Against Buying It
A late model motorcycle with the standard exhaust, ridden gently, is already mapped about as well as it needs to be. The honest advice there is to spend the money on tyres.
Twenty Minutes to an Hour
Depending on where the injector harness runs. On most machines it is a seat, four connectors and a cable tie, and on a few it is a fuel tank as well.
The Legal Note
Fuelling is part of the emissions approval in most of Europe. A modified mixture puts the machine outside its approved condition, and that is a local question with a local answer.
On a Motorcycle With Two Owners
A shared machine ridden by somebody who does not know the module is there will notice nothing at all. It changes nothing about how the motorcycle is operated, only how it responds.
The Cost of Doing Nothing
A motorcycle with an aftermarket exhaust and a standard map is not damaged, only running further from ideal than it needs to. Plenty of owners live with that quite happily for years.
