The JP ES 016 plugs into the Panigale 959's plate lamp connector and gives the monitoring circuit a load, because that circuit measures current rather than light.

A Wet Clutch
Unlike the bigger twins, which makes the 959 quieter and cheaper to maintain. Purists complain and everybody else is pleased about it.
Plugged Straight In

LED Replacements Fail Too
A small LED plate light draws a fraction of the original, which the controller reads as an open circuit just as readily as no lamp at all.

Unplug, plug in, secure the lead. There is no polarity to observe and no way to fit it incorrectly on any model.

The Case Against a Spliced Resistor
It produces the same electrical result and costs almost nothing. It also sits in the wettest, dirtiest part of the motorcycle, where a crimp corrodes quietly and returns the warning six months later at the least convenient moment. A sealed body with the right plug on it exists precisely to avoid that afternoon.
What the Load Actually Is
The circuit expects the current a small filament lamp draws, which is a fraction of an amp rather than anything dramatic. That is why the eliminator is a small sealed body rather than a heatsink, and why mounting it sensibly is a matter of tidiness rather than of thermal management.
