The JP ES 002 removes the evaporative emissions hardware from the Scrambler 800 and frees the space it occupied, which on most models is space somebody else already wants.

Air Cooled on Purpose
Ducati kept the old engine architecture for the Scrambler because the character is the whole product. It is the last air-cooled twin the company sells.
Where It Hides
Behind the engine or under the tail depending on the model, with three lines and a bracket. On a Ducati that area is never generous.
Not on Every Bike
Ducati fits the system where regulations demand it and leaves it off elsewhere, which is why two apparently identical machines can differ under the tank.
A Component With No Diagnostic
Nothing on the motorcycle reports a saturated bed. There is no code, no warning and no service check, which is why the symptoms get blamed elsewhere.
Why Removal Is Common
The assembly occupies contested space, has a limited life, cannot be serviced and produces symptoms that are difficult to diagnose. Any one of those is a reason.
A Long Way From a Workshop
A saturated canister produces hard starting in exactly the places where a dealer is a day's ride away, which is the argument on any touring machine.
No Diagnostic Software Needed
Nothing here requires a dealer tool or manufacturer access. The circuit answer is passive and the mechanical work is a spanner job.
Emissions Approval
Evaporative control forms part of the motorcycle's type approval in the markets where it is fitted. Removing it puts the machine outside road specification there until the parts return, which is a legal question rather than a technical one and worth settling before ordering.
Where Ducati Puts the Canister
It goes wherever there is room, which on a superbike means under the tail and on an adventure machine means alongside the swingarm or behind the engine. That is why the space it frees is worth different amounts to different owners, and why the job is worth doing on some models and barely noticeable on others.
