DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Street Triple 765 R sits in the middle of Triumph's third-generation range and is a common sight on club rides, where a dozen bikes follow each other through the same bends. Riding in a group changes how you use the brakes, because the rider behind you reacts to everything you do. For the Street Triple 765 R of 2017 to 2021, Accossato's list points to the DK203, a floating disc with a black carrier and a 310 mm ring, interchangeable with the one fitted at the factory.

Key Features

  • Floating front disc for the Triumph Street Triple 765 R, 2017 to 2021
  • 310 mm outer diameter, 82 mm inner diameter
  • 4 mm thick
  • Interchangeable with the original disc
  • Black carrier
  • Minimum working thickness printed on the ring
  • Priced per disc; the 765 R carries two at the front
  • No German ABE documented; intended for the track

Construction and Material Quality

The DK203 is a two-part floating disc. The outer ring meets the pads, the black carrier connects it to the wheel, and rivets join the two while leaving the ring a small amount of play. As the ring heats up, it can expand within that play. Accossato says it developed its understanding of such tolerances in racing, in Moto3, Moto2 and Superbike, and it describes the disc as interchangeable with the one Triumph installed.

Riding in a Group

Group rides reward riders who are predictable. Sudden hard stops ripple backwards along a line of bikes, and the rider at the back, reacting to a chain of brake lights, ends up braking hardest of all. The brakes on the 765 R are strong enough to stop very abruptly, which is exactly why it pays to brake early and smoothly when others are following. Ride in a staggered formation on straight roads, keep about two seconds to the bike directly ahead, and go single file through bends. Before setting off, agree on hand signals for hazards.

The brakes themselves should behave the same from the first stop of the day to the last. If the lever begins to pulse or feel different during a ride out, mention it at the next stop instead of carrying on, and have the discs measured when you get home. A disc close to its wear limit heats up faster over a long day of repeated stops, and its feel changes as it does.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the DK203 for the Street Triple 765 R from 2017 to 2021, replacing an original front disc. Two discs sit on the front wheel of the 765 R, and one order covers one of them. The Street Triple 765 S and 765 RS of the same years share this disc on Accossato's list. Levers Accossato lists for the Street Triple 765 R include the EDF011, EDF035 and EST333P.

Road Approval

No ABE for Germany and no type approval are documented for the DK203. It is supplied for use at the track.

Scope of Delivery

One DK203 floating disc with black carrier; the second front disc is ordered separately.
