Every enduro rider learns to pick a bike up, and on a Husqvarna FE 450 it is a skill worth practising. A big four-stroke lying on its side on a slope is heavy and awkward, and tired riders often drop it again halfway up. For the FE 450 of 2014 to 2017, Accossato's B8283 replaces the stock brake lever with a folding one, made in Italy from Ergal 7075. The short three-finger blade can fold forward, which is useful when the bike ends up on its right side, sometimes twice in a row.

Construction and Material Quality
Of the three goals Accossato names for its off-road levers, strength, low weight and reliability, the last may be the one enduro riders value most. The B8283 is CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, and assembled from a dark base and a blade in black, blue or orange. The base stays on the pivot of the FE 450's original front brake master cylinder, while the blade is attached through the joint that allows it to fold. As a brake lever it is short, shaped for three fingers.
Lifting a Big Four-Stroke
The method taught on training days is to use the legs, not the back: crouch beside the bike, take the handlebar and a solid point at the rear, and walk it upright in small steps, with the bike in gear so it cannot roll away. On flat ground that is manageable even for a smaller rider. On a muddy slope, with boots slipping and the FE 450's weight pressing downhill, it is hard work, and a bike that is almost upright has a habit of falling straight back over when the rider's footing goes.
Each of those falls lands on the same side, and if it is the right, the brake lever pays twice. That is where the joint in the B8283 helps: the blade has the option of folding forward rather than taking the impact rigidly at its tip, and once the bike is finally standing it can be moved back into position. There is no guarantee it will escape every drop, but when it does, the rider can concentrate on getting going again instead of working out how to stop a big enduro bike without a front brake lever.
Fitment and Compatibility
The B8283 is listed by Accossato for the Husqvarna FE 450 from 2014 to 2017, split into the versions 2014 to 2016 and 2017. It replaces the original lever on the stock front brake master cylinder. For the clutch, Accossato lists the C7283 on the older bikes up to 2016 and the C7284 on the 2017 model. The C7283 can also be had in red; otherwise all three share black, blue and orange.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE on file for the B8283. On a road-registered FE 450 the lever is not approved for public roads; it is intended for off-road riding and competition.
