DescriptionThe whole story▼
If you only ever buy one mirrored visor for the X-804, buy the silver one. It is the most reflective finish in the iridium range and the only one that does not impose a colour of its own on what you are looking at.
Neutral means predictable
A silver monolayer rejects light fairly evenly across the visible spectrum. Kerbing stays the colour of kerbing, a yellow flag stays yellow, and brake lights ahead read as brake lights rather than as something you have to interpret through a warm or cool cast. That neutrality is why silver survives conditions the coloured finishes are fussier about: it works on a bright afternoon and it still works when cloud rolls in an hour later, without the flat, drained look a strongly tinted mirror can take on under grey sky.
One layer, not several
Nolan applies a single coloured layer here. The Cosmic visors in the same range stack several films and cost roughly half as much again for it. A monolayer trades the depth and the angle-shifting effect of a stack for a cleaner, more consistent mirror — which, for a visor bought to control glare rather than to be photographed, is arguably the better trade.
Closed circuits only
This visor is not homologated for road use anywhere in Europe. Nolan builds it for track and private circuit riding, and it is unsuitable for night or low-light use of any kind.
Handling a coated surface
A mirror is a surface, and surfaces mark. Wash it wet with plenty of water and let it dry; a dry cloth on a dusty mirror coating is the fastest way to ruin one. Underneath the coating it is the standard part — Lexan polycarbonate moulded in Italy, scratch treatment on both faces, Pinlock posts fitted, tool-free change, and one size that fits all four X-804 shells.
