DescriptionThe whole story

Titanium grey is the finish that asks the least of you over several years of touring. It hides road film better than anything else here and sits meaningfully above black in the flat light Europe supplies for most of the year.

Three SHARP stars — and the 50 % you should know about

SHARP buys helmets at retail and destroys them in a laboratory rather than taking a manufacturer's word for anything. Its verdict on the X.LIFETOUR, from April 2026: 3 stars out of 5, on an example weighing 1.8 kg.

🔵 Three stars is mid-table. It is a real, independent measurement, and it is more than any other Nexx helmet has.

About the titanium grey finish

Value rather than colour decides both how dirty a helmet looks and how easily it is seen, and a mid grey sits at the useful point on that scale for both at once. Insect strike, road film and dried rain marks all show least here — they read as haze on black and as obvious marks on white. And a driver resolves a mid-value object against dark tarmac appreciably faster than a dark one. Neither property is dramatic alone; together they make this the version that needs the least attention over a long ownership. 🔵 It is also the finish that shows the chin-bar seam and pivot detail most clearly, which on a flip-up is either a feature or a distraction.

P/J homologation and the Super Locker chin bar

🔵 What P/J means in practice. „P" is the full-face protective category; „J" is the open-face one. A helmet holding both has been tested and approved in both configurations, which is why you may legally ride with the chin bar raised.

Plenty of flip-ups are certified closed only. Riding those open is not legal in most of Europe.

The X-Matrix2 shell

Four market homologations — ECE 22-06 P/J, DOT FMVSS 218, CCC GB811:2022 and NBR7471:2015 — is more than most flip-ups carry, and useful on a touring helmet that will cross borders.

The shell is X-Matrix2 multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite in two outer sizes.

96 decibels — the Silent Travel Seal

The chin vortex generators are the detail most riders never notice. Small shaped elements under the chin bar break up the airflow before it becomes turbulence, which reduces drag and the low-frequency rumble that turbulence produces.

🔵 Combined with the Silent Travel Seal and the anti-noise padding, the measured result was 96 dB at 130 km/h.

X-Sensus Vision, X-SWIFT and two visors

Two clear visors in the box is unusual and genuinely useful on a touring helmet: a scratched visor is the most common thing that spoils a long trip, and a spare turns it into a five-minute job at the roadside.

🔵 Both run on the tool-free X-SWIFT mechanism, and the fitted one carries a Pinlock 70 MaxVision anti-fog lens.

Two closable intakes and two air chambers

The Mid Airflow Chamber routes air through the structure around the head rather than merely passing it over the crown under the liner, which is what allows a two-intake system to move a useful volume.

It is patent-pending, and it is shared with the rest of Nexx's premium range.

Morpho-Fit interior and F.R.S.

F.R.S.® — the Fast Release System — lets the cheek pads come out tool-free. The everyday use is cleaning; the important one is emergency removal, where a first responder can take the helmet off without forcing it past the jaw.

🔵 On a flip-up the chin bar can also be opened first, which makes removal easier again.

Around 1.8 kilograms, and the rest of the honest list

The full honest list: heavy at around 1800 g; a 3-star SHARP rating rather than a higher one; the face guard fully locked in only 50 % of SHARP's impacts; two outer shell sizes rather than three; and a sealed, insulated design that gets warm at low speed.

Against that: 96 dB measured, P/J homologation, four market approvals, two visors and a fitted Pinlock lens.

Where it sits in Nexx's range

🔵 Against Nexx's fixed full-face touring helmet, the X.TR, the trade is convenience against weight. The X.TR is around 50–175 g lighter and has no hinge; this one opens at every stop and holds a SHARP rating the X.TR does not.

Both are ECE 22-06; only this one is P/J.

Comms, cameras and spare parts

The removable wind deflector and breath guard are supplied and both are worth fitting. The deflector closes the gap under the chin bar — the main noise path — and the breath guard stops exhaled air misting the visor at a standstill.

🔵 Both come out in summer if you prefer the airflow.

“Bennetts rate the value, the venting and the sunshield, and criticise two things: the weight, and a chin bar that does not lock as securely open as the best rivals. We measured 1,860 g against a claimed 1,750 — believe the scale.”
