DescriptionThe whole story

Pure is the plain version of the District SV S and the only one at 89 €. Matt black suits a helmet that changes configuration — with the peak on or off it reads as the same object rather than as two different helmets.

One helmet, three configurations

The District SV S is built to change: run it with the peak and the clear visor for trail and mixed use, or take both off and ride it as a jet. MT positions it as a multifunctional urban and trail helmet rather than as one or the other.

🔵 Each configuration is a different helmet in use. With the peak fitted it catches air at road speed; as a jet it is loud but cool; with the visor closed it is the most weatherproof of the three.

About the matt black finish

A convertible helmet has more visible hardware than a fixed one: a peak mount, vent caps, a camera mount and a visor that comes off. Gloss draws a highlight along every edge of that; matt shows the outline instead, which pulls the whole thing together. That matters more here than on a conventional helmet, because you will be changing the configuration and the helmet should look deliberate in each of them. Practically, a flat finish absorbs the handling a trail-capable helmet gets — carried by the peak, set on a tank bag, wiped with whatever is to hand. 🔵 Two things to weigh. It is the least conspicuous version in the range on a helmet used partly in city traffic, where being seen matters most. And matt is washed rather than polished — abrasive polish leaves a permanent shiny patch, and dry dust shows more readily than it would on gloss. On the other hand, it is the version that looks equally right with the peak fitted and with it removed, which none of the graphics quite manages.

HIRP, two shells and variable-density EPS

The shell is HIRP — High Impact Resistant Polymer — over an EPS liner of variable density, which distributes impact energy across a wider area than a single uniform block would.

🔵 Two outer shell sizes cover XS to XXL, and MT quotes 1.25 kg; some retail listings state around 1200 g. It carries ECE 22.06 and DOT approval.

The retractable sun visor

The integrated retractable sun visor is what the „SV" in the name stands for, and on a convertible helmet it earns its keep in every configuration — with the peak on, with the visor off, and as a plain jet.

🔵 The peak shades light from above; the shield handles glare ahead. They cover different angles rather than duplicating each other.

The clear visor — and the Pinlock that does not exist for it

The clear front visor is what turns this from a jet into a weather-capable helmet, and it comes off without tools when you want the open configuration.

🔵 There is no Pinlock option for this model. MT does not offer one and the visor is not prepared for one — so anti-fog here comes from airflow and from the retractable sun visor's air gap rather than from a lens.

Intakes, exhausts and the vent caps in the box

Ventilation is front and top intakes with rear exhausts, and MT supplies vent caps in the box — so the openings can be closed when the weather turns rather than being permanently open.

🔵 That is a genuinely useful inclusion on a helmet used year-round, and it is the kind of accessory most manufacturers sell separately.

The MT-MDTC closure

Retention is MT-MDTC — a micrometric closure with a double-teeth engagement, which is what makes the lock feel positive rather than approximate.

🔵 Check the adjustment every few months. A ratchet has a set position that can drift, and the helmet should be snug enough that it cannot be rolled forward off your head.

Interior, fit and washing

The interior is fully removable and washable, which on a helmet used partly off tarmac matters more than on a road one — the padding collects dust as well as sweat.

🔵 Two outer shell sizes cover XS to XXL. Measure around the widest part of your head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and try the size the chart gives you.

SportCam mount and intercom provision

A SportCam mount is included — not sold separately — and the helmet is Bluetooth intercom ready. On a helmet at 89 € that is an unusually complete package.

🔵 The camera and the intercom themselves are separate purchases. What MT supplies is the mount and the provision.

Where it sits in MT's range

The District SV S is MT's convertible urban-and-trail helmet, and it sits between the jets and the dual-sport Track SV.

🔵 The Track SV is a full-face with a peak, a SHARP 4-star rating and a chin bar, for 47 € more. If you want chin protection on unpaved ground, that is the one.

When something wears out

Everything on this helmet that wears is available separately: the visor, the peak, the sun shield, the vent caps, cheek pads and the complete lining.

🔵 What cannot be replaced is a crushed EPS liner. After a real impact the helmet is finished, however it looks from outside.

“It carries a peak, but it is an open trials helmet with no chin bar and no goggle port — against real adventure helmets that convert for goggles, it is outclassed on every off-road measure.”
