DescriptionThe whole story▼
A rider's signature livery is usually the one they choose to represent themselves outside of a specific Grand Prix weekend — no home-race flag colours, no one-off circuit tribute, just the graphic Johann Zarco picked to carry his own name through the 2026 season.
What ECE 22.06 actually checks
Five strike points under the old ECE 22.05 rule became eighteen under 22.06, each now tested across several speeds rather than a single one — that is the scale of the change behind this helmet's road certificate. A newly added test drives the shell into an abrasive surface at an angle, reproducing a real low-side's twist and slide rather than a straight drop, and for the first time a Brain Injury Criterion scores rotational force on top of the older linear figure.
The rare double: road and racetrack on one certificate
Two separate certifications sit on this one shell — ECE 22.06 for the road, and FIM FRHPhe-02 for competitive racing. FRHPhe-02 is the newer, second-generation FIM Racing Homologation Programme standard, already compulsory in MotoGP and set to cover every official FIM competition from 2026, and it goes well beyond the original FRHPhe rule: fresh strike angles, a longer list of test points, harder structural targets, and a reworked visor lock aimed squarely at keeping the visor shut through a crash.
How the Adaptive Aero System actually works
A patented spoiler at the rear of the shell — Shark's Adaptive Aero System — doesn't hold a single shape the way a conventional fin does. Three things change it automatically: the rider's own physique, the extra bulk a set of leathers adds behind the neck, and the riding position at that instant, tucked in or sat up.
What sits under the graphic
Behind the violet-and-white artwork is the same COVA shell as the rest of the line: carbon fibre at roughly 80 per cent, aramid making up the remainder, moulded across two shell sizes so a smaller head isn't sharing a shape built for someone larger. Firmness inside the liner is graded across four separate EPS zones instead of a single foam grade, and the chinstrap closes with a double-D ring, which cannot work itself loose under load the way a quick-release buckle sometimes can.
Neck load, not just a spec-sheet number
Shark quotes 1,480 g for the smaller of this helmet's two shell sizes. That figure matters far less in the pit lane than it does forty minutes into a race, when the muscles holding a static load the whole time start to feel it — extra mass accumulates rather than announcing itself early.
Airflow: five in, seven out
Five intakes and seven extractors handle airflow on this shell, using a Double Venturi effect Shark developed alongside the spoiler's own CFD work. Vents and aerodynamics were engineered as one exercise here, which is part of why the intakes sit where they do rather than wherever a mould happened to leave room.
Seeing out of it: visor specifics
The glazing is Optical class 1, offering 220 degrees of side vision and 57 vertically, on a four-point anchor with side grip and locking pin. It arrives tear-off ready, aimed squarely at track use. Pinlock isn't fitted as standard — anti-fog and anti-scratch treatment cover that job on the visor itself — and the racing tints on offer (dark smoke, chrome, gold, pink, silver) are marked for racing use only, with clear and TE35 the two tints actually road-legal.
Inside the liner: safety features fitted
The EPS liner grades its firmness across four separate zones rather than a single foam type, and Shark's Emergency Remove System — cheek pads a first responder can pull free without twisting an injured rider's neck — comes fitted as standard. What isn't present is a MIPS liner or similar rotational-impact system; it appears nowhere in Shark's own materials for this helmet, and that absence is stated plainly rather than left ambiguous.
Zarco's own signature graphic
This decor carries Johann Zarco's personal signature livery for 2026 rather than a colour scheme tied to a single Grand Prix. Zarco, born in France in 1990, has been one of Honda's most consistent performers in recent seasons — the team's top-ranked rider in both 2024 and 2025, with a Le Mans win and a Silverstone podium in the latter — and heads into 2026 with LCR on a fresh two-year deal, expected to anchor the team alongside its factory-supported line-up.
The Aeron price ladder, in real numbers
Rather than one flat number, Shark's Aeron range has three genuine steps. Base Aeron and non-FIM Aeron GP models open the range. Above them sits the Aeron GP FIM — the previous FIM generation, certified FRHPhe rather than FRHPhe-02. This FIM 2 decor sits at the top.99, a premium over its FIM 1 predecessor spent entirely on the newer, stricter racing certification rather than any change to shell or aerodynamics.

On wind noise
We can't point to a trustworthy independent dB reading for this helmet, so none is quoted. Construction-wise, a seal around the visor opening and a chin curtain at the base of the shell close most of the gaps that generate wind noise. This is a racing shell with an active spoiler and multiple vents, built around airflow rather than hush — worth saying directly rather than implying a quiet that's never been measured.
Replacement parts
One Shark collection, titled for four helmets — Aeron, Aeron GP, Aeron GP FIM 1, and Aeron GP FIM 2 — confirms direct visor support for this exact model. On a helmet used at track pace, that's worth more than it is on a commuter lid.
Limitations, stated directly
No MIPS or equivalent rotational-impact system comes fitted. It doesn't ship with a Pinlock insert as standard, relying on anti-fog and anti-scratch treatment on the visor instead. There's no internal sun visor. SHARP's 4-star score for a helmet called "Aeron GP" belongs to a different, non-FIM Shark model at a lower price point — not this FIM2-certified helmet — and it isn't carried over here. No trustworthy independent wind-noise reading exists for this model, so none is quoted.
