The same flared Trumpet cans, under Spark's black ceramic treatment. On a T120 whose side panels, frame and mudguards are already black, this is the version that lets the exhaust disappear into the motorcycle instead of standing out from it.
Key Features
- Pair of Trumpet slip-on silencers in Black Series finish for the Triumph Bonneville T120.
- AISI 304 stainless steel under a black ceramic treatment.
- Euro 4 homologated — approval released by the Italian Ministry of Transport.
- 3,7 kg against 7,1 kg for the standard silencers.
- Supplied with the connecting pipes for standard lateral mounting.
- Fits with the original catalytic converter in place.
What Black Series Actually Is
It is not paint and it is not anodising. Spark applies a ceramic treatment over the same AISI 304 body, which is why the article number changes only in one letter and the weight does not change at all. The base component is identical to the stainless version; the surface is not.
A ceramic layer is bonded rather than laid on top, so it copes with the heat a silencer sees without lifting or discolouring the way a coat of high-temperature paint eventually does. The finish is a deep matt black — closer to the T120's engine cases than to a gloss panel.
The Price Step
1.012 euro against 856 for the brushed pair: 156 euro for the treatment. Nothing else differs. Same shape, same mouth, same mounting hardware, same approval, same 3,4 kg saved.
Worth saying plainly, because it makes the decision an honest one. You are buying a colour, and if the brushed steel is what you want on the bike, the cheaper number is the right one.
How It Sits on a T120
Triumph paints a great deal of this motorcycle black already — the frame, the swingarm, the side panels, the headlight shell on most colourways. A brushed exhaust reads as a bright accent against that; a black one reads as part of the structure.
The flared Trumpet mouth is still legible, because the cut edge catches light even in matt black. What goes quiet is the long cylindrical body, which stops competing with the chrome header pipes running forward of it.
Living With a Coated Exhaust
Warm water and a soft cloth. The one thing to keep away from a ceramic finish is an abrasive polish or a wheel cleaner strong enough to etch — those are formulated to cut, and a coating is the wrong surface to cut into.
Road salt and brake dust come off easily enough if they are not left to bake on over a winter. Treated sensibly, the finish outlasts the sort of high-temperature paint an owner might otherwise be tempted to spray on.
Mid-Range, Not Top End
Spark locates the performance improvement at medium revs. That is where a 1.200 cc twin is actually ridden, and it is a more useful claim than a peak figure would be on a motorcycle that reaches its torque long before it reaches its limiter.
