Two and a Half Horsepower at 4,500 rpm

Spark is unusually specific about the performance: plus 2,5 hp at 4.500 rpm, measured with the Spark silencer on the original manifold. Not peak power, not a percentage — a number at a stated engine speed, in the part of the rev range a GS actually uses.

That figure comes from fitting the silencer alone. No remap, no manifold change, nothing else on the motorcycle touched.

One Point Nine Kilos

Spark's figure for the complete slip-on is 1,9 kg, which it puts at a 62 per cent saving over the standard silencer. Those are the two numbers Spark publishes and the two we quote — the model data elsewhere on Spark's site lists a standard weight that does not reconcile exactly with the percentage, so we leave that figure out rather than pick one.

What is not in question is the direction: close to two thirds of the mass of the heaviest single component at the back of the motorcycle disappears.

Titanium Everywhere but the Cap

Every component of the slip-on is titanium apart from the end cap, which is carbon fibre. Spark presented the silencer alongside the R 1250 launch at EICMA and designed it around the volumes the current emissions rules demand rather than adapting an older case to fit.

Tested by Someone Who Rides Them

Spark says the durability testing ran for months on the machines of Stefano Sacchini of Adventure School. A riding school is a harder test bed than a dyno cell: the same bikes, different riders, dropped regularly, and run at low speed and high load for hours at a time.

The Black Version

The identical silencer with Spark's Black Series ceramic treatment is GBM0607BOM at 1.023 euro — 191 euro more, and the only difference is the surface.

Which GS It Fits

Two generations, and Spark lists the number under both. The R 1200 GS and GS Adventure from 2013 to 2018 — the water-cooled boxer — and the R 1250 GS and GS Adventure from 2018 to 2021 with the ShiftCam engine. The silencer mounting did not change between them.

The approval covers Euro 4 and Euro 5, which matters here because the changeover falls inside the production run. If your registration document is ambiguous about the emission class, send it to us and we will confirm it before the part ships.

What Is Replaced

The silencer and its connecting pipe only. Manifold and catalytic converter stay standard — which is exactly the configuration Spark measured the 2,5 hp on.
