DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Öhlins FFX 2201 exists because the KTM 300 SX (2023–2026) needed its own settings, not a shared set. The front end is where a rider's confidence is won or lost on the 300 SX.
Key Features
- Ships with spring 02428-47
- Spring rate 4,7 N/mm, set against this machine's weight
- 297 mm working stroke
- Listed by Öhlins for the KTM 300 SX (2023–2026) and no other machine
Damping and Adjustment
Eye-to-eye length is 950 mm, fixed for this application. 297 mm is the stroke Öhlins specifies against the 300 SX's ratio. Fill specification is 1330, which is part of the setting rather than a detail. Öhlins fits a 4,7 N/mm spring to this number; riders far from average weight should expect to change it. Compression and rebound adjusters sit at the fork tops and work independently. The range is wide enough that both ends of it are usable rather than theoretical.
Construction and Material Quality
Fork springs are separate catalogue items and can be changed without dismantling the cartridge. Every Öhlins dealer can re-valve the unit, because the shim stack is a documented, serviceable assembly. Two units carrying the same part number behave the same way out of the box, which is the whole point of testing each one.
The RXF 48 S in Detail
The fork is built for racing use and expects racing service intervals — oil and seals at regular hour counts. The assembly drops into the standard triple clamps on the models it is listed for. Air forks need a pressure check before every ride, and the RXF 48 S removes that step entirely.
Why This Machine Needs It
Öhlins covers the 4-year production run of this generation with a single part number, which means the mounting and the linkage stayed unchanged across it. At 300 cc the 300 SX makes enough torque to load the rear hard on corner exit, and the damper has to keep the wheel in contact while that happens. Braking bumps and jump landings load the suspension at the two extremes of its range within the same corner.
Fitment and Compatibility
Öhlins releases FFX 2201 against the KTM 300 SX (2023–2026). 33 machines in the range take this number, the KTM 300 SX among them. Öhlins notes for this application: 08765- spring series *Replaces FFX 1201*
Road Approval
Road approval: not documented by Öhlins for the KTM 300 SX. We do not state an approval we cannot evidence — please confirm the current status with us before ordering if you intend to use the motorcycle on public roads.
Fitting and Setup Service
Fitting matters as much as the part. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and carry out installation, servicing and setup ourselves — get in touch and we will arrange it alongside your order.
