DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Ducati Panigale 1299 S is seldom bought as everyday transport, yet almost every owner has ridden one home under a sky that changed its mind. The superbike built from 2015 to 2017 holds its front discs between a caliper on either side of the wheel, and Accossato's answer for that wheel is the AGPA106 carrier. Sold here in the Sintered material as article AGPA106ST, it is the version the company associates with a grip level that stays where you left it on cold discs and hot ones alike, and that keeps answering once the faces are running with water.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the Ducati Panigale 1299 S, 2015 to 2017
- AGPA106ST: the AGPA106 carrier pressed with the Sintered material
- Accossato names steady grip at low and high disc temperature, and in rain
- For the owner who does not wait for a dry forecast before going out
- Two pads to a box, the pair that one caliper closes onto
- This model grips each front disc with its own caliper, so the wheel takes two boxes
- The same carrier is also offered in EV1, EV2 and ZXC
- No German ABE on file; catalogued for racing and closed-course use
Construction and Material Quality
What the factory claims for this material is repeatability. Pull the lever with the same force on a machine wheeled out of an unheated garage and on one that has just come off a fast road, and the bike should shed a similar amount of speed both times; wet the discs and the answer should still be recognisable. The carrier underneath is common to every article built on the AGPA106, so the caliper never notices which material arrived in the post. Accossato also speaks of wear that stays modest across a long service life, a claim it makes for the pad programme as a whole rather than for this compound on its own.
Caught Out by the Evening Weather
Sports bikes get ridden on good days, and good days end. A ride that set off in sunshine comes back under a front that arrived early, and the last hour is spent on tarmac that is greasy rather than properly wet, with diesel at the roundabouts and leaves piled in the gutter. A Panigale 1299 S is not a difficult machine in those conditions, but it is a demanding one. The riding position puts weight on the wrists, the front tyre is carrying most of the load, and the rider wants the lever to say the same thing at eight in the evening that it said at lunchtime.
A handful of habits keep that promise honest. Wipe the faces with one light application as you pull out of the car park, before the first junction rather than at it. Allow more room than the dry road needed and take the speed off in one progressive squeeze instead of a series of stabs, because a wet disc rewards a steady hand. Once you are home, look through the mouth of each caliper at how much material is left. The two sides of a 1299 S rarely wear at exactly the same rate, and it is the thinner pair that decides when the set has come to an end.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato places the AGPA106 on the front wheel of the Panigale 1299 S for model years 2015 to 2017, and the same table adds the 1299 S Anniversario under 2017. Nothing outside that window is covered by this entry, so check the year on your own papers before ordering. The rear wheel of the bike is served by the AGPA42 across the identical three seasons, and the DKS036 appears in the Accossato disc range for the model. One box equals one caliper, and this front wheel is gripped from both sides.
Road Approval
No German ABE reached us with the AGPA106ST, and there is no test report behind it either. We therefore catalogue these pads for racing and closed-course use rather than for the public highway.
Scope of Delivery
One box holding two AGPA106 pads in the Sintered material, the set a single front caliper needs. Both calipers on the Panigale 1299 S want fresh material on the same afternoon, so a complete front change takes two boxes.
