DescriptionThe whole story▼
The lighter, dressier version of the first Ducati Diavel, with composite body panels and forged wheels, was bought by riders who cared about details, and many of those bikes are kept in original condition today. That makes the question of what happens to the factory cap an important one. Accossato lists the FC135 for this Diavel for 2011 to 2013 and 2015 to 2018, a cap with quick release that is made wholly from CNC-machined aluminium, its quick-closing pawl carrying a pin in any of six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the lighter first-generation Ducati Diavel, 2011 to 2013 and 2015 to 2018
- Machined entirely from aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl, quick to open and close
- Pin colours: black, silver, red, blue, gold, green
- Pawl available separately if damaged
- Accossato part number FC135
- No German ABE on record; track use
Construction and Material Quality
The FC135 brings a different material to a Diavel known for its composite panels: aluminium, machined entirely on CNC equipment. Accossato says this makes the cap robust and durable, and it describes the design as new and attractive. The quick-closing pawl makes short work of opening and closing the tank, the pin on it can be ordered in black, silver, red, blue, gold or green, and if the pawl is ever damaged, Accossato has replacements available on their own.
Keeping the Original Cap Safe
On a Diavel kept in original condition, the factory cap is part of the bike's value, so treat it like any other original part when the Accossato goes on for a track day. Clean it, let it dry and wrap it in a soft cloth before it goes into a labelled bag, together with any small parts that came off with it. Store the bag with the bike's documents rather than in a toolbox where it can be crushed or scratched. Make a note of when you swapped the caps, and refit the original before the bike returns to the road. Change either cap only with the engine cold and the bike parked, keep the open filler covered, and check afterwards that the seal sits evenly and nothing weeps from around the rim. A buyer who one day inspects this Diavel will want to see the original parts, and a well-kept cap is one of them.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato names this Diavel for the FC135 in two blocks, 2011 to 2013 and 2015 to 2018, the second covering the facelifted bike. The 2014 model year is not on the list, so owners of a 2014 bike should check with us before ordering. You will also find this cap in our shop for the standard first-generation Diavel, the X Diavel and the Panigale 1299.
Road Approval
No German ABE or expert report is on file for the FC135, so we supply it for track use. Original caps typically lock, and on public roads this Diavel keeps the one it left the factory with.
