DescriptionThe whole story▼

Sunday morning, an empty mountain road and a Yamaha FZ8 with a willing four-cylinder engine: this is where EV1 makes sense. Accossato makes its AGPA97 front pad in this street/track compound and says it gives excellent grip on the road and at amateur track level. It is catalogued for the FZ8 800 from 2010 to 2015, and it is the natural choice for a rider who wants more bite on a fast ride and who may book a track day for the first time.

Key Features

  • EV1 street/track compound, Accossato AGPA97 front pad
  • Yamaha FZ8, 2010-2015
  • Accossato: excellent grip for road riding and amateur circuit use
  • More direct response for Sunday rides on twisty roads
  • Enough heat tolerance for a novice track day
  • Box contains a pair for one front caliper
  • Family members: OR, ST, EV2, ZXC

Construction and Material Quality

EV1 is Accossato's bridge between road and circuit. The company describes it as giving excellent grip in both places, so it must bite at the moderate temperatures of a road ride and still hold up to the extra heat of a session on track. The general Accossato promises of modest wear, fade kept down by limited heat and strong deceleration apply as well.

Sunday Rides and a First Session on Track

On a good road an FZ8 is quick and light on its feet, and the rider soon starts braking later into bends. A front pad with a firm, immediate bite makes those braking points easier to judge. EV1 is designed for that feel without needing race temperatures to work. If the next step is a novice track day, it is designed for amateur circuit use too. Use the first laps to bed the pads in, then check the lever and the fluid in the pit lane. Commuters are better served by OR, and a dedicated race bike by EV2 or ZXC.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the FZ8 800 of 2010 to 2015, Accossato lists AGPA97 at the front, AGPP88 at the rear and the DK062 disc. Both front calipers need pads, which means two boxes. Swap left and right together, clean the pistons, keep grease and brake cleaner residue off the rotors and pump the lever until firm. After a track day, look at the fluid, since heat ages it faster than road use.

Road Approval

We hold no ABE or German test paperwork for AGPA97EV1; it is sold for motorsport use.
