DescriptionThe whole story▼
Orange over grey is the most practical bright combination in the range. Orange is the colour the eye resolves fastest in flat light; grey is the value that absorbs the dirt a touring week produces.
Three SHARP stars — and the 50 % you should know about
The weight SHARP recorded is worth quoting alongside the stars: 1.8 kg, measured on the helmet they bought and tested — which matches the X-Matrix2 composite shell's specification rather than the carbon one.
🔵 The rating applies to the model. The example they tested weighed 1.8 kg, and the result was 3 stars.
About the Pro Mile Orange Grey graphic
This pairing solves the problem that bright touring helmets usually have. A fully orange shell is highly visible and looks filthy after one wet motorway run; a grey shell hides everything and is hard to spot in flat light. Splitting the two keeps both properties without either dominating. Orange is also resolved faster at distance than red, which on unfamiliar roads among drivers not expecting motorcycles is the argument that matters. 🔵 Bright pigments fade fastest under sustained UV — storage out of direct sun does more for the finish than any polish.
P/J homologation and the Super Locker chin bar
Open at the lights, closed for the miles — that is the flip-up proposition, and it is why touring riders keep coming back to the format despite the weight penalty over a fixed full-face.
🔵 The X.LIFETOUR is ECE 22-06 P/J, so both positions are certified. Closure components are stainless steel and special aluminium.
The X-PRO Carbon 3K shell
3K describes the carbon tow — three thousand filaments per bundle — and it is the weave that produces the familiar chequerboard pattern. On the exposed-weave Zero Pro you are looking at it directly.
The shell is quoted at 1750 g, 50 g under the X-Matrix2 composite, in two outer shell sizes.
96 decibels — the Silent Travel Seal
A double rubber seal is a small engineering decision with a disproportionate effect. A single seal leaks as it ages and compresses; a double one keeps a second line of contact, which is why the Silent Travel Seal holds its performance rather than degrading over a few seasons.
🔵 Measured: 96 dB average at 130 km/h, noise scored 5/5.
X-Sensus Vision, X-SWIFT and two visors
Three optical layers on this helmet: the outer visor with its fitted Pinlock 70 MaxVision lens, and the drop-down internal sun visor behind them. Rain, fog and glare are all covered without changing anything at the roadside.
🔵 A second clear visor is supplied on top of that.
Two closable intakes and two air chambers
🔵 A caution about vent counts. Two intakes sounds thin, and on Nexx's other helmets a similar count has measured anywhere from 1/5 to 5/5 depending on the internal path. Count is not the specification that matters.
What the X.LIFETOUR has is a patent-pending inter-EPS chamber, an alveolar crown chamber, and intakes that close.
Morpho-Fit interior and F.R.S.
🔵 Fit is the specification that matters most and the one no description settles for you. A loose helmet moves under braking and rotates in a crash; a tight one produces a headache at forty minutes.
Try it on and keep it on for ten minutes. Two outer shell sizes cover XS to XXXL, so check the size at the boundary carefully.
1750 claimed, 1860 measured
Carbon buys only 50 g on this helmet against the composite shell, because a flip-up's mass is dominated by the hinge, the seal and the chin-bar reinforcement rather than by the shell.
🔵 And the measured figure — 1860 g in size M — sits above both published numbers. Whether the carbon is worth the extra money is a fair question.
Where it sits in Nexx's range
Buying the plain version rather than a graphic saves money and changes nothing else — same shell, same seals, same visor system, same SHARP-rated construction.
🔵 The carbon versions change the shell and save 50 g on paper, at a higher price than the Globe graphics.
Comms, cameras and spare parts
Helmets are consumables with a long life rather than permanent objects. Nexx, like every manufacturer, recommends replacement after around five years of use regardless of condition — and immediately after any real impact, because the EPS crushes once and does not recover.
🔵 On a flip-up, also check the pivot and the seals annually; a seized hinge ends the helmet as surely as a crushed liner.
