DescriptionThe whole story▼
Zero Pro is the X.WED3 reduced to its shell: exposed weave, no graphic, no paint over it. It sits at the top of the range for one reason, which is that a finish with nothing on it has to be flawless underneath.
Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer
Nexx built the X.WED3 around a two-part EPS liner, and everything else follows from that: the Mid Airflow Chamber uses the gap, the Anti-Vibration rubber layer fills part of it, and the weight reflects both.
🔵 It is the most technically distinctive adventure helmet in the range, and also the heaviest.
About the Zero Pro Carbon finish
A painted shell can hide small cosmetic imperfections in the layup; an exposed-weave one cannot, which is why bare-carbon versions of any helmet cost more than painted ones built on the identical shell. What you are paying for is the quality of the surface rather than extra material. The consequence is repairability: a deep scratch into exposed weave is permanent, where paint can be touched in — and this helmet is designed to meet stones. 🔵 It is also, with the FURKA Black Grey, the least conspicuous version here. Carbon reads as very dark grey in every light condition that matters.
The X-PRO Carbon shell and the X-Foam bumpers
The X-PRO Carbon shell is the lighter half of this range and the one every graphic above the GOBI family sits on. Claimed weight is 1725 g; three outer shell sizes cover XXS to XXXL.
The protective structure beneath is common to both constructions: a two-part EPS with a rubber interlayer, plus X-Foam EPP bumpers at chin and sides.
| Shell | Construction | Weight (Nexx) | Decors |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | multiaxial fibreglass + 3D organic fibre, Kevlar/aramid, carbon reinforced | 1790 g ±50 | Plain, GOBI |
| X-PRO Carbon | carbon fibre | 1725 g | Wild Pro, KEYO, FURKA, Zero Pro, Golden Dune |
F.R.S.® — both cheek pads at once
The Fast Release System is the kind of engineering that only shows its value twice — every time you wash the liner, and once, possibly, when it matters most. Both cheek pads release together, tool-free.
🔵 Worth showing a riding partner how it works. They are the person most likely to need it.
Recoil visor, sun visor and the second shield in the box
The optical package here is the most complete in Nexx's adventure range: Recoil visor with twin-lip seal, Pinlock 70 MaxVision included, a second visor in the box, an internal sun visor 18 % larger than before, and a peak with three-stage adjustment plus a screwless extensor.
🔵 Goggles still fit the aperture for dusty going — they are simply not required.
Seven intakes — and a measurement that disagrees
Splitting the EPS into two shells gave Nexx a gap, and the Mid Airflow Chamber is what they did with it — fresh air circulating around the head between the shells rather than over the crown, hot air drawn out at the rear.
🔵 It is the most interesting ventilation idea in the range and the worst-scoring one in measurement: 1/5 in an independent road test.
How loud it actually is
Noise fatigue is cumulative over a riding day in a way a single measurement cannot convey. A helmet at 103 dB is manageable for an hour and genuinely tiring over six — which is an argument for earplugs rather than for a different helmet.
🔵 The independent score was 3/5, mid-field for a peaked adventure helmet.
Interior, materials and fit
The visible stitching and faux leather at the front of the interior are the parts you notice in a shop; the alveolar mesh and X-Mart Dry are the parts you notice at hour five. Nexx put budget into both, which is unusual.
🔵 Independently scored comfort: 3.5/5. Fit: true to size, intermediate-to-long oval.
1725 grams, and the rest of the honest list
Three outer shell sizes across eight helmet sizes means the weight you actually receive depends heavily on your size. Nexx quotes 1725 g for the carbon shell without stating which size that describes.
🔵 The composite version is quoted 65 g higher, at 1790 g ±50.
Goggles, comms, camera and spare parts
🔵 If you plan to run a camera, buy the POV Kit at the same time as the helmet. Chin-mount positions are model-specific, and retrofitting an adhesive mount to a shell designed for a bolt-in one is both uglier and less secure.
Comms provision is separate: full X-COM3 integration with Bluetooth 5.2, sold separately.
