LS2 FF811 Vector II Carbon Helmet – Matt Carbon

There is no graphic to explain here. The Vector II Carbon in matt is the shell itself — 6K weave running unbroken from the chin bar to the rear spoiler, sealed under a satin coat that absorbs light instead of bouncing it back.

A carbon shell in six sizes

The shell is 6K carbon — not a carbon-look wrap, not a carbon-flecked composite, but woven carbon fibre laid up as the structural layer. That is what gets a full-face with a drop-down sun visor down to 1400 grams.

Six separate shells cover the range from XXS to XXXXL. That is unusually generous — the alternative is padding out a mid-size shell, which adds mass at the top and makes small helmets look oversized.

About the Matt Carbon finish

Matt is the quieter of the two plain carbon options. The satin clear coat reads almost charcoal in flat light and only shows the weave when the sun catches it at an angle, which suits a blacked-out bike. It is also the most forgiving surface in the range: fine swirl marks from a season of washing do not stand out the way they do on gloss.

Airflow that reaches your head

The Dynamic Flow-Through system runs air from the chin and forehead intakes, along ducts in the polystyrene, and out at the back. Because the channels are in the EPS rather than just under the shell, the air reaches your head.

Three visors, one helmet

A wide, hardcoated visor with UV protection, supplied with the Pinlock 120 MaxVision insert. The quick-change system means a tinted screen goes on in under a minute at the side of the road.

A drop-down sun visor is built in. One slide of the lever brings it down, another puts it away completely inside the shell, which is far easier than fighting sunglasses over a helmet.

Holding on, and letting go

A reinforced chin strap with a micrometric metal fastener does the holding. The EPS is multi-density rather than a single block, and the emergency-release tabs let a paramedic remove the cheek pads without lifting the helmet.

The bit you actually touch

A breathable, hypoallergenic liner with X-Static silver treatment, cut by laser so the edges stay flat against your skin. It lifts out for washing and the shell is prepared for LS2's Bluetooth unit.
