Two names sit on this fitment list and only one airbox sits behind them. Sprint Filter records OM184S against the Honda CB400 Super Four built from 1998 to 2006 and against the CB400 Revo / Super Bol d’Or from 2008 to 2026 — different badges, different bodywork, and in the Bol d’Or’s case a half fairing the Super Four never wore. None of that reaches the intake. A filter reference follows a housing, which is why the thing that decides an order here is not the name on the side panel but which of the two entries carries your build year.
Key Features
- Single-layer woven polyester, run completely dry — no oil at any point in its life
- 80 µm filtration at a rated 5,050 l/m²/sec, the road and track specification
- Threads from ø 22 microns, a figure that describes the fibre and not the gap the weave leaves
- Around double the working cloth area of a conventional performance element
- Fits the standard airbox unaltered — nothing cut, no adapter, no remapping
- Cleaned and refitted rather than replaced, with two years of guarantee from purchase
Why the badge is the wrong thing to order by
Honda kept this 400 in production for a very long time and changed its name and its clothes along the way; the catalogue answers with one reference because the box the element sits in did not follow those changes. That cuts both ways. It means the owner of an early Super Four and the owner of a late Super Bol d’Or are looking at the same part, and it means neither can rely on a model name alone. Read the registration document, match the year, and the bodywork stops mattering.
What the element changes, and what it does not
Nothing fitted inside a standard airbox makes a standard motorcycle stronger, and a description that claims otherwise is selling something else. What the P08 changes is the shape of the restriction over time. A cellulose panel starts at its lowest resistance and climbs from there until it is thrown away; a washed polyester weave is put back to its own starting condition, so the figure the engine works against stays inside a narrower band for as long as the bike is kept. Where the roads are dusty, the same housing is listed with the finer OM184P14 at 14 µm and 1,800 l/m²/sec: more held back, less passed through. A trade, not a ranking.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air does most of the work: apply it to the clean face so the dirt leaves the way it came in. When a season leaves more than air will lift, warm water and a mild dish soap finish the job, rinsed until clear. Keep heat away — hairdryer, oven, exhaust, flame — and never refit OM184S damp; still air is the whole drying method. Sprint Filter’s maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
OM184S covers two machines: the Honda CB400 Super Four (1998–2006) and the CB400 Revo / Super Bol d’Or (2008–2026). One element serves both, so there is nothing to keep apart on a shelf. Check your build year against the compatibility list before ordering: on this model line the names moved more often than the airbox did.
