The 890 Duke enlarged the LC8c and sharpened everything. The JP PD KT071 replaces its right-hand switch with a machined Ergal body.

Eight Hundred and Eighty-Nine Cubic Centimetres
KTM took the 790's twin out to 889 cc with a longer stroke, a heavier crankshaft and revised heads. The result makes 115 hp and, more usefully, considerably more midrange, which suits the way these motorcycles are actually ridden.
A Heavier Crank on Purpose
The 890 has a crankshaft with 20 per cent more inertia than the 790's. That sounds like a step backwards and it makes the engine noticeably easier to ride at low revs without losing anything at the top, which is a trade KTM made deliberately.
The Duke Range's Middle
Between the 690 single and the 1290 twin, the 890 occupies the position most riders actually want: enough power to be fast anywhere, light enough to enjoy on a difficult road, and cheap enough to run without resentment.
Universal Clamp Pattern
Both aligned and offset master cylinder geometries are accepted. On a bike likely to receive a brake upgrade at some point, keeping that decision separate from the switchgear is worth doing from the start.
Uneven Firing Through the Bars
The 75 degree crank offset gives the parallel twin a pulse rather than a hum, which is a large part of its character and is felt through everything bolted to the handlebar. A one-piece machined body handles it better than clipped mouldings.
Two Finishes
Black and orange, both anodised through the surface. Orange picks up the frame and the graphics directly on most KTM colour schemes, which makes it a continuation rather than an addition.
Nothing Overhead
A naked bike gives its controls no shelter at all. Sealed elements inside a housing with no moulded joint are the only meaningful protection, and the standard clipped assembly offers neither.
