DescriptionThe whole story▼
The ZX-6R with its 636 cc four is Kawasaki's supersport bike for road and track, built in several generations since 2013. The GP-Light 2 clip-on handlebars for the Kawasaki ZX-6R, listed by Gilles from 2013 to 2026, are 50 mm clip-ons at about 670 g.
Key Features
- Tube clamped separately in the clamp, to limit crash damage
- Quick tube change thanks to the external screw connection
- 6-degree drop, 255.5 mm total tube length
- Replacement tube available as spare part LR-09
- 50 mm clamps, black anodised
- TTG 101316 or TÜV 34TG0277 for ZX636E and ZX636J
Supersport on the road and on track
A 600-class bike is ridden at high corner speed, and the rider's weight on the bars matters. The GP-Light 2 has a 6-degree drop and engraved alignment marks, so both sides can be set exactly the same.
A note from Gilles
Gilles states that on the 2024 ZX-6R the bars fit only if no steering damper is mounted. The legal situation also differs by type code, so please read the approval section before ordering.
Road Approval
Both Gilles approvals list the ZX-6R types ZX636E and ZX636J; the marking on the clamps decides which applies. Clamps marked KBA 101316 fall under the KBA part type approval: no inspection, carry the approval. Clamps without that mark rely on TÜV parts certificate 34TG0277: acceptance inspection straight after fitting, documents corrected later. The 2019 to 2020 type ZX636G is not listed in either document, so on that bike the bars need an individual acceptance. For a 2026 bike, check that the type code is ZX636J. Conditions in both documents: cables, Bowden cables and brake lines long enough and protected against kinking and chafing, master cylinder and reservoir in their working position, brake hoses with at least 80 mm bend radius and not twisted, free steering including lock and steering stop, and a check of the front brake.
Scope of Delivery
A left and a right clip-on with their tubes, the fitting instructions and the TÜV parts certificate, as Gilles states. Grips, bar-end weights and controls are reused from the motorcycle.
