DescriptionThe whole story▼
The top of a steep, loose descent is where many enduro riders hesitate. From the saddle of a Husqvarna FE 450 the track seems to drop away beyond the front wheel, stones lie scattered down the slope, and the instinct is to sit down and grab the front brake. Both are usually wrong. Good riders stand, move their weight back, keep their eyes on the bottom and let the bike roll, and all of that depends on the feet. For the FE 450 of 2014 to 2016, Accossato lists enlarged footpegs made of Ergal, and they can be ordered in six colours.
Key Features
- Enlarged Accossato footpegs for the Husqvarna FE 450, 2014 to 2016
- Ergal, a high-strength aluminium alloy
- Broad base for standing with the weight back
- Built for motocross, enduro and off-road motorcycles
- Orange, blue, green, black, red or Titanium
- Left and right peg in the set
- FE 450 from 2017 onwards: other Accossato sets
- No ABE on record; for competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, based today in Villastellone near Turin, gives one line of description for this part: oversized pegs in Ergal for motocross and enduro machines and other off-road bikes. Ergal is a high-strength aluminium alloy. The enlargement is the feature that matters on a descent, since it offers the boot a bigger surface to press into while the rider's weight moves backwards. The set contains two pegs, for the left and right, and the FE 450 of 2014 to 2016 can have them in orange, blue, green, black, red or Titanium.
Weight Back, Eyes Down the Hill
On a steep slope the rider's position matters more than the brakes. Standing lets the body move back as the bike tips forward, keeping the weight balanced between the wheels instead of over the front. The arms stay slightly bent, the knees hold the bike and the eyes look well down the hill rather than at the front tyre. Brakes are used gently and progressively, with the rear doing much of the work and the front applied smoothly, because a locked front wheel on loose stones means an instant loss of steering.
The big single-cylinder engine of the FE 450 helps, as engine braking in a low gear holds the speed back without much work for the brakes, and the clutch stays engaged for the same reason. Throughout the descent the feet carry most of the rider's weight, and the boots are under constant load from above. A broad peg gives them a secure platform, so the rider can concentrate on the line. Practise on shorter slopes first and build up gradually; confidence on descents comes with repetition.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives this FR795 for the FE 450 of 2014, 2015 and 2016. Newer bikes are covered by two other sets, the FR798 for 2017 to 2023 and the FR809 for 2024 to 2026. Before ordering, check the model year of your FE 450, look at the photos and colours of the sets and ask us about anything that seems unclear. The same set is listed in our shop for the FC 450, the TE 250 and the TC 250 as well.
Road Approval
No ABE and no other certificate of approval exist for these pegs in our documents; we sell them for competition.
