DescriptionThe whole story▼

The GasGas EC 300 is the two-stroke many enduro riders choose when the going turns steep and rocky, and on that kind of ground the rear brake is used almost as much as the throttle. Accossato's DK018 covers the GasGas EC 300 from 2013 to 2024: a fixed rear disc, 220 mm in diameter and 4 mm thick, made from one piece of steel and, in the maker's words, interchangeable with the stock part.

Key Features

  • Fixed off-road rear disc for the GasGas EC 300 two-stroke, 2013 to 2024
  • One-piece construction, steel-made per the supplier
  • 220 mm outside, 110 mm inside, 4 mm thick
  • Interchangeable with the original disc according to Accossato
  • Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
  • Front partner on the list for 2021 to 2024: the DK259
  • Levers on the list: B8206 brake, C7283 and C7284 clutch
  • No German ABE documented; for off-road competition

Construction and Material Quality

Nothing on the DK018 can come loose: it is a single piece of steel that carries both the mounting holes and the friction surface. For a rear disc on an enduro bike that is the practical choice, with nothing for mud to jam. The disc measures 220 mm across its outer edge and 110 mm across the centre opening, with a friction surface 4 mm thick. Accossato attributes its understanding of discs to racing in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, and it prints the minimum working thickness on the disc, so wear can be checked at the trailside with a simple gauge.

Throttle and Rear Brake Together

In hard enduro the rear brake is not only for stopping. On a rock step, a steep climb over roots or a slow, technical descent, experienced riders keep a light, steady pressure on the rear pedal while they work the throttle and clutch. The brake holds the bike back against the engine, so the drive reaches the ground in a controlled way and the bike does not leap forward when the rear tyre suddenly finds grip. On descents, the rear keeps the speed down while the front is kept light enough not to wash out.

All of this means the rear disc of an EC 300 works for long periods at low speed and under steady pressure, often wet and gritty. It gets hot, and the pads wear quickly. Check the rear pads every few rides and replace them before the backing plate touches the disc, because a metal-on-metal scrape can ruin a disc in a single outing. Measure the disc regularly against the minimum printed on it. A disc that is blue, bent or deeply grooved has lost the smooth, predictable response this riding style depends on.

Fitment and Compatibility

The model years 2013 to 2024 on Accossato's list cover EC 300 two-strokes built before and after GasGas joined the KTM group, so compare the new disc with the one on your bike before fitting: outside diameter, centre opening and hole pattern should match. For the front wheel of the 2021 to 2024 models, the list names the fixed DK259. The B8206 brake lever and the C7283 and C7284 clutch levers are also listed for the EC 300.

Road Approval

The DK018 has no German ABE on file and no documented type approval, so we offer it for competition and closed off-road venues.

Scope of Delivery
