DescriptionThe whole story▼
Please note: sale to France is prohibited.
Sparkle is the second graphic family and takes the opposite drawing approach to Jammer: dispersed, fragmented shapes rather than solid blocks. TC-1 is its red, and it reads as movement where the Jammer reads as structure.
What this helmet is for — and what it is not
If you ride enduro or trail rather than motocross, this helmet still fits the brief — the ventilation, the low weight and the goggle aperture all matter more in the woods than on a circuit. What changes is the road transfer at each end.
🔵 There is no visor, so a road section means goggles, noise and cold air. For long transfers on tarmac, an adventure helmet is the better compromise.
About the Sparkle TC-1 graphic
Two graphic families exist on this helmet because they solve the same problem differently. Jammer uses large hard-edged fields, which is the traditional motocross approach and the most legible at distance. Sparkle breaks the surface into smaller dispersed elements, which follows the shell's contour more closely and gives the helmet a sense of motion even standing still. Neither is better; they suit different bikes and different riders. In red, Sparkle is the more energetic of the two reds on this page. 🔵 The practical notes are the same across every decor here: a higher price than a solid, printed layers cannot be touched in, and red pigment fades faster than most under sustained UV. Peaks and mouthpieces are available separately in matching finishes.
What MOTORCYCLE NEWS measured
The goggle aperture was singled out in MCN's test, and it is one of the specifications that decides whether an off-road helmet works for you. Theirs took motocross goggles without difficulty, and the opening is unusually generous.
The full March 2026 verdict on the VFX-WR 06 was 4/5, with 5.0 for comfort, exceptional ventilation and a measured weight of 1250 g.
AIM+, four shells, double-D and EQRS
Two components do the protective work and they do different jobs. The AIM+ shell spreads the load and resists penetration — relevant off-road, where stones and footpegs are part of the environment. The polystyrene liner underneath absorbs energy by permanently crushing.
🔵 A crushed liner does not recover. After a real impact the helmet is finished, whatever the outside looks like.
M.E.D.S. — and why it is not MIPS
🔵 Off-road is where rotational protection matters most, and the reason is the surface. A rider going down on tarmac slides; a rider going down on dirt catches — on a rut, a berm, a root — and a caught helmet twists the head far more sharply than a sliding one does.
M.E.D.S. is Shoei's response to that: a flexibly linked EPS element that absorbs some of the twist. It is not MIPS, which works by sliding instead.
Seven in, eight out, and a filter in the nose
🔵 Keep the filter as a consumable rather than a component. It is designed to be replaced, spares are part of the genuine parts range, and a dusty summer will clog one considerably faster than most riders expect.
The rest of the system — seven intakes, eight exhausts, a metal-mesh nose cover — needs nothing beyond a rinse. MCN described the ventilation as exceptional.
Sizing, goggles and Max-Dry
Fit on a competition helmet is not a comfort question, it is a performance one. A helmet that moves on the head rotates before the liner can do its job, and it will also shift your goggles at the worst possible moment.
🔵 Take the smaller size if you are between two, and tune with thinner cheek pads. Remember this helmet runs larger than Shoei's road models.
How loud it is on the road
Perceived noise depends heavily on your motorcycle as well as your helmet, and off-road bikes make this worse rather than better — no screen, upright riding position, and the rider's head fully in clean fast air on any road section.
🔵 Combined with an open goggle aperture, expect what MCN found: substantial noise at road speed.
Where it sits in Shoei's range
For riders who do both, the honest answer is usually two helmets rather than one compromise. A VFX-WR 06 for the track and a road helmet for the road costs more than a Hornet ADV 06, and both helmets do their job properly instead of neither doing it well.
🔵 If it has to be one helmet, buy the Hornet.

When something breaks
Genuine parts matter more on a helmet than on most things, because the peak, the padding and the retention system are part of what was certified to ECE 22.06. A pattern peak that does not break away as designed is a different helmet from the one that was approved.
Everything we stock for the VFX-WR 06 is Shoei's own.
