What the price cannot decide

If the finer medium were simply the better one, it would be dearer, and it is not. If the cheaper one were the compromise, it would filter less, and it does not — it holds more. When the mat is the right answer

Dry gravel, unsealed roads in summer, riding behind other vehicles, a dry season that arrives every year — that is the case for SM261P14. A machine that lives on clean tarmac is better matched to the standard element, because the flow it gives up is given up every day and not only on the dusty ones. Neither element adds power: in an unmodified airbox this one leaves a standard 500RR exactly as strong as it was, and what changes is the intake restriction and how steady it stays.

Care and cleaning

A nonwoven parts with its load slowly, so clean the SM261P14 patiently: compressed air on the clean face, worked outwards, and more time than a woven panel needs. Lukewarm water with a mild detergent takes what air will not, rinsed until the water runs off clear. Dry it in moving air at room temperature and in no other way — heat ruins the mat invisibly.
