Air flow figures are easy to misread, and this element carries the largest one Sprint Filter publishes. The 15,000 l/m²/sec of the P08 F1-85 is a property of the fabric measured per square metre of it — not a statement about how much air a Kawasaki Z7 Hybrid will draw, and not a promise about what the motorcycle will do. The same is true of the 85 micron filtration figure, and of the 5,050 and 80 microns of the standard P08. They describe two media, and the useful work is deciding which description fits the way a particular machine is used.
Key Features
- Washable and reusable; the routine is compressed air from the clean side
- P08 F1-85 racing medium: 15,000 l/m²/sec of air flow, 85 microns of filtration
- Roughly double the filtering surface offered by other performance filters
- Dry polyester, never oiled; nothing can travel onto sensors or throttle bodies
- Two years of warranty, with a design life matching the motorcycle's
- Goes straight into the standard airbox — nothing modified, nothing remapped
How to read the two numbers as a pair
The figures always move together and always in opposite directions: a finer weave holds back more and passes less. Across the range that reads 85 microns at 15,000 l/m²/sec for the F1-85, 80 at 5,050 for the standard P08, and 14 at 1,800 for the P14. It is a line, not a ladder, and position on it is chosen by what the air is carrying rather than by what sounds best. The figure that does not appear in that line, and matters as much as either, is area. Sprint Filter builds these elements with roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters, and flow through an element is the product of the fabric and the surface it is spread across — which is why a fine medium in a well-dimensioned element is not the compromise the per-square-metre numbers alone suggest.
Which end of the line a Z7 Hybrid sits at
A hybrid ridden on public roads sits nearer the retention end than the flow end. The engine spends much of its time off or lightly loaded, so the extra air has nowhere to go, while the road supplies fine material continuously. That points at the standard P08, or the P14 if the routes are dusty. The F1-85 becomes the right answer if the bike is prepared for track use and serviced on that basis — a rare thing to do with this model, but the element is here for it, and the airbox accepts any of the three without modification.
Care and cleaning
A compressor and a habit: aim it at the clean side, blow outwards, and refit the element dry. Anything the air cannot shift is a job for lukewarm water and a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear and then dried completely in air — never with heat, never with a flame. The medium is never oiled, which is why the procedure has no further stage. The Sprint Filter maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Kawasaki Z7 Hybrid from 2024 to 2026. The same PM164S F1-85 element covers eleven machines sharing this airbox; the complete list is in the Fitment tab.
