DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 016 restores the electrical load Ducati's body controller looks for on the SuperSport 939, which is what a tail tidy takes away the moment the original lamp comes off.
Key Features
- Ducati SuperSport 939 (2017–2020)
- Restores the load the plate lamp circuit expects
- No lamp failure warning after a tail tidy
- Plugs into Ducati's own connector
- Nothing cut, nothing spliced
- Standard lamp refits at any time
Two Hundred and Ten Kilograms
Wet, which is heavier than a supersport and considerably more comfortable. The SuperSport was never trying to win a lap time comparison.
Why Riders Are Caught Out
The plate hanger is usually the first thing an owner changes, and nobody expects a small bulb behind a number plate to be electrically monitored.
A Sealed Unit
The eliminator is potted rather than open, so the connector it occupies stays as protected from water as it was with the lamp fitted.
The Commonest Ducati Modification
A shorter plate hanger is the first thing a great many owners fit, which is why this part sells in the numbers it does.
Keep the Loom Untouched
Cutting the connector to fit an improvised solution is the one thing that makes this change permanent. It is not worth the ten minutes saved.
Two Small Parts, One Order
Plate lamp and indicator eliminators are usually bought together because the same tidy-up removes both. Ordering one and forgetting the other is common.
A Job Done With Others
The plate lamp, the indicators and the tail light all live in the same area and all come off together. Doing them in one session is obvious.
Nothing Is Cut
The eliminator uses the connector the standard lamp used, so no wire in the loom is stripped, joined or soldered anywhere. That is what makes the change reversible in the couple of minutes it takes to reach the connector, and it is what an inspection or a careful buyer will actually notice.
Reading the Fault Rather Than Guessing
A diagnostic tool names the circuit, which saves an hour of pulling at connectors under a seat unit. On a machine with several lighting changes it is the only sensible starting point, because the panel shows a general warning where the memory shows exactly which lamp the controller lost.
