DescriptionThe whole story▼
Four point seven newton metres and 3.7 PS, both at 5,400 rpm, on a sport tourer that lives at exactly those revs. The Akrapovic Slip-On Line (Titanium) S-Y13SO3-HT gives the Yamaha FJR 1300 its gains where a loaded machine actually pulls, takes 3.4 kg off the standard silencer, and leaves the side cases in place.
Key Features
- 4.7 Nm more torque and 3.7 PS (2.7 kW) more power, both measured at 5,400 rpm — the cruising range of a shaft-drive tourer
- 4.7 kg against the standard 8.1 kg: 3.4 kg and 42 per cent less
- Titanium muffler outer sleeve with a carbon fibre end cap
- Mounting with the original Yamaha side cases is possible
- Peak torque 127.9 Nm against the standard 126.3 Nm
- EC and ECE type approved, certificates supplied
- Noise insert included, installation about 45 minutes with no remapping
Gains Where a Tourer Uses Them
Most exhaust gains on a large four arrive somewhere above 8,000 rpm, which is of limited use on a bike that spends its life at motorway speed in top gear. Akrapovic's measurement puts both the torque and the power gain at 5,400 rpm on this system, and on an FJR that is precisely the range for overtaking two-up with luggage.
The 3.4 kg is the other half of the argument. A 289 kg tourer will never be light, but taking 42 per cent off the silencer removes mass from high on the right-hand side, which is felt most at low speed and when the bike is manoeuvred by hand.
Which FJR You Have
The FJR 1300 changed twice inside the years this part covers. The 2013 revision brought cruise control, ride modes and the electronically adjustable suspension on the AS; the 2016 update added the sixth gear, cornering lights and a bigger front brake. The exhaust mounting stayed the same throughout, which is why one silencer serves 2013 to 2020.
The figures on this page were measured on a 2016 machine, in the middle of that span. Installation is quoted at 45 minutes, longer than a naked bike's because the pannier rail has to come off first on any FJR carrying its factory luggage.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-Y13SO3-HT covers the Yamaha FJR 1300 A, AE and AS from model year 2013 through 2020. Akrapovic states explicitly that mounting with the original side cases is possible — on this machine that is the question most owners ask first.
Road Approval
EC type approval and ECE type approval, with the certificates supplied and downloadable here, which makes the silencer a legal replacement part for road use in the European Union.
