DescriptionThe whole story▼
Rubber pads that go on and off without tools. That is the detail that decides whether a set of enduro footpegs actually suits a bike ridden to the trail and back — sharp teeth for standing on dirt, a rubber insert for the two hours of tarmac either side, and no spanner needed to switch between them.
Key Features
- Cast in one piece from Grade 5 titanium in Akrapovic's own foundry
- ABE — the German general operating permit
- Octagonal profile with a Y-shaped reinforcement
- Wide platform with central teeth for grip standing up
- Designed for standing and heel-down riding on enduro terrain
- A pair of rubber pads is included, fitted without tools
- The original mounting hardware must be reused
Cast, Not Machined
Akrapovic casts these pegs in its own foundry rather than machining them from billet. On a footpeg that is the right choice: a casting can put material exactly where the load runs and leave it out everywhere else, which is how the Y-shaped web inside the peg exists at all.
Grade 5 titanium is the alloy used for aerospace fasteners and racing exhaust flanges — high strength, and it does not corrode where the anodising on an aluminium peg would have worn through after one winter.
Standing Up and Heel Down
Akrapovic states the design brief plainly: standing and heel-down riding on enduro terrain. Those are two different loads. Standing puts the rider's weight on the outer edge with the boot across the peg; heel-down loads the rear corner while the toe steers.
A wide platform with teeth spread across it rather than clustered in the middle is what serves both, and that is what the octagonal profile is for.
The Pads Are Not an Afterthought
A pair of rubber pads comes in the box and clips on without tools. On a KLE 500 — a motorcycle that will spend most of its life commuting and touring — that matters more than the trail geometry does.
Teeth that grip a muddy boot will also transmit every vibration of a parallel twin into the soles of your feet on a four-hour motorway leg. The pads exist for that leg.
Reuse the Original Hardware
Akrapovic prints a fitment notice: the original mounting material must be used when installing these pegs. Nothing new is supplied for the pivot, so the standard pins, clips and springs have to come off the old pegs and go onto these.
That is worth knowing before the old ones are thrown out, and it is worth reading the instruction manual rather than assuming.
A German Permit
The set carries an ABE — the general operating permit. Footpegs are a part a Prüfer will look at, because they change where the rider's weight sits and how far the machine can lean. With an ABE there is nothing to enter in the papers and no individual inspection.
A New Motorcycle
Kawasaki's KLE 500 arrived for 2026, a middleweight adventure twin in a segment that has become crowded. Being first to market with a titanium footpeg set for it is part of why this exists.
Road Approval
ABE, the German general operating permit.
