DescriptionThe whole story▼

After a night of rain, a clay motocross track becomes a sticky, heavy surface that loads the wheels, the fork legs and the front caliper with mud. For the TM Racing MX 250 four-stroke, which Accossato lists as MX 250 F from 2001 to 2025, the AGPA29 front pad is available in STMX, the maker's compound for off-road riders. It is aimed at racers who cannot choose their weather and still need a front brake that keeps working to the chequered flag.

Key Features

  • AGPA29 front pad for TM Racing MX 250 4T, 2001 to 2025
  • STMX compound for off-road riders, article AGPA29STMX
  • Aimed at clay, mud and dust
  • For race days when the weather decides
  • Designed for low heating and wear, per Accossato
  • OR, ST and EV1 are the alternatives
  • One set for the front caliper

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato names STMX as the compound it makes for off-road riders and leaves it at that; we will not speculate about its make-up. What the Turin-area firm says about all its pads still stands: heat is kept down so the bite does not fade, wear is slow and the stopping force is high.

Clay, Mud and a Four-Stroke

A 250 four-stroke in heavy mud behaves differently from a two-stroke. Its engine braking slows the rear wheel as soon as the throttle shuts, which helps on slippery ground, but the rider still depends on the front brake to set up each corner and to hold speed down on greasy descents. When the front wheel throws lumps of clay into the caliper, a pad designed for dirty conditions makes a difference. The Off-road sintered STMX version of AGPA29 is intended for that job on the MX 250 F. When the ground is dry and clean, the OR and ST compounds on the same plate are the alternatives, and EV1 exists for supermoto use.

Cleaning Clay Out

Dried clay sets hard around the pistons. Soak it with water and let it soften before rinsing, rather than scraping, and check afterwards that both pads slide freely in the caliper.

Fitment and Compatibility

In Accossato's list, the AGPA29 plate covers the front brake of TM Racing's four-stroke MX 250 F throughout 2001 to 2025. A motocross front end has one disc and one caliper, so a single box is sufficient. For the rear, look for AGPP106, which starts in 2005. If your MX 250 F is one of the early bikes, confirm the rear brake with the old pads before ordering, as no rear plate is listed before 2005.

Road Approval

We do not have an ABE or test certificate for AGPA29STMX. The pad is sold for off-road competition.

Scope of Delivery

Two STMX front pads for the MX 250 four-stroke.
