DescriptionThe whole story▼
A young rider on a Suzuki RM85 changes shape faster than the bike does. Over a season or two the arms lengthen, the rider stands taller on the pegs, and controls that suited a smaller child begin to sit at the wrong angle. The front brake lever is among the parts that need revisiting, both for its position and, after the crashes that come with learning, for its condition. Accossato's B8262 is a replacement for that lever on the RM85 of 2005 to 2021, machined from Ergal 7075 in Italy, with a short blade drawn for three fingers and a joint on which it can fold.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the B8262 on CNC equipment in Italy, working from solid Ergal 7075. The high-strength aluminium alloy is the company's route to its usual combination of strength, low weight and reliability, and it suits a small bike on which every part gets knocked about. The lever comes in two pieces: a dark base that fits the pivot of the Suzuki's master cylinder, and a blade, black, blue, gold or green, hinged to it so that it can fold. The brake blade is short and leaves room for three fingers.
Growing Into the Controls
Coaches of young riders tend to check the same things at the start of every season: where the handlebar sits, how high it is and the angle of the levers. As a child grows, the standing position on the RM85 changes, and a brake lever set up for last year's rider may now force the wrist to bend upwards whenever the fingers go looking for it. The usual fix is to loosen the master cylinder clamp and rotate the whole unit on the bar until the lever lines up with the forearm in a standing, attacking position. It takes a few minutes with basic tools and is worth repeating whenever the rider has visibly grown.
Growing riders also fall, because learning at the edge of their ability is how they improve. On an RM85, a fall to the right puts the brake lever between the bike and the ground, and a snapped blade ends the session for a child who had just begun to find a rhythm. The joint on the B8262 can let the blade fold forward instead, so there is a reasonable chance the lever still works once the rider has been picked up and dusted off. It cannot survive everything, and a spare in the toolbox is still sensible, but each time it does, the practice day goes on and the learning continues.
Fitment and Compatibility
The Suzuki RM85 from 2005 to 2021 is on Accossato's list for this brake lever, which swaps in for the stock part at the original front brake master cylinder. For the left side, the C7160 folding clutch lever is listed across the same years. Both come in the same four colours, black, blue, gold and green, so left and right can be matched in any of them.
Road Approval
There is no documented German ABE for the B8262. Like the RM85, it is intended for motocross and off-road riding only.
