The matt Pure A1 is the same helmet with the shine taken out, and on a jet handled at every stop that is the practical choice rather than the stylistic one.

What an open-face helmet does and does not do

Riders choose an urban jet for reasons that are entirely practical: you can see across a junction properly, you can hear traffic, glasses go on and off without a fight, and the helmet comes off in a second at a shop door.

🔵 What you give up is chin and jaw protection. There is no chin bar, and the open-face category under ECE 22.06 does not require one.

About the matt black finish

An open-face helmet is handled far more than a full-face: put on and taken off several times a journey rather than once, carried by the edge, set down on café tables, desks and scooter seats. That handling is exactly what a flat finish absorbs best — there is no gloss layer for a scuff to catch in, so the marks a city helmet accumulates simply do not read. Matt also suits the Viale's plain, unbroken dome, showing the outline rather than drawing a highlight across it. 🔵 Two things to weigh. It is the least visible finish in the range on a helmet used where visibility matters most. And matt is washed rather than polished — abrasive polish leaves a permanent shiny patch, and dry dust shows more readily than it would on gloss. Against that, it is the finish that will still look tidy after two years of being carried, stacked and stored, which is more than can be said for a glossy shell at this price. Choose it if the helmet lives in a top box rather than on a shelf.

ECE 22.06, DOT — and what „with all accessories" means

Full ECE 22.06 approval means the current schedule rather than the superseded 22.05: more impact points, higher test speeds, and a rotational-impact assessment the older standard did not include.

🔵 Worth checking on any inexpensive jet you compare this with — a good number are still sold against the older revision.

HIRP — and a weight figure worth reading carefully

What a thermoplastic shell means in practice: it is injection-moulded rather than laid up by hand, which makes it cheaper to produce and heavier than a composite of equal strength. It also makes it very consistent, because the process is machine-controlled.

🔵 At this price it is the only construction that exists, and on a jet the weight penalty barely registers.

The drop-down sun visor

🔵 With the shield down and the main visor closed you are looking through two surfaces, and any scratch or fog on either becomes visible. Keep both clean, and never wipe either dry — road dust scratches the shield as readily as the visor.

Clean both wet, with plenty of water.

The MT-V-26B visor — and what this helmet does not have

Fogging on an open-face is a different problem from fogging on a full-face. Your breath escapes downwards into open air rather than circulating behind a chin bar, so the visor stays clear in conditions that would mist a full-face.

🔵 That is fortunate, because no Pinlock lens is available for the MT-V-26B. In cold, wet, stop-start conditions, cracking the visor is the practical answer.

The MT-Micrometric+ closure

What a micrometric closure gives you over a simple buckle is fine adjustment. You are not choosing between two holes; you are setting the strap to the millimetre and clicking to the same place every time.

🔵 On a helmet at 72 € that is a better closure than the class usually gets.

Interior, fit and washing

Comfort on an open-face is decided at the edge rather than in the padding. The rim runs across your cheekbones and around your jaw, in full view and in constant contact — a hard or badly finished one is unbearable within twenty minutes.

🔵 Being able to remove and wash the parts that touch your face is part of what keeps that bearable over years.

Intercom compatibility

🔵 The most common reason riders abandon an intercom is a speaker pressing on the ear over a long day, and it is almost always a depth or positioning problem rather than a fault of the system.

Measure yours before assuming they will fit. Nothing is supplied with the helmet.

Where it sits in MT's range

Within this model the price ladder is entirely paint. The Pure solids at 72 € and the two Tasty finishes at 81 € share the same shell, the same visor, the same sun visor and the same closure.

🔵 The cheapest Viale SV S protects exactly as well as the most expensive.

When something wears out

Helmets are consumables with a long life rather than permanent objects. MT, like every manufacturer, recommends replacement after around five years of use regardless of condition — and immediately after any real impact, because the EPS crushes once and does not recover.

Between those points, everything you touch on this helmet is replaceable.
