DescriptionThe whole story▼
Cockpit is the second graphic family and C5 carries it in gloss red — the most conventionally sporting version in the range, and the one that looks most like the sport-touring helmet MT positions it as.
Entry sport-touring — and what that means
An honest summary of the proposition: current-standard certification in two markets, a drop-down sun visor, a patented-class visor system and intercom preparation — on a thermoplastic shell at entry sport-touring money.
🔵 The anti-fog insert is not included, which is the one place the price shows.
About the Cockpit C5 graphic
Red on a sport-touring helmet reads as intent rather than as decoration, and under gloss it has the depth that matt versions give up. It is also a high-saturation colour that holds up well against the greys and blacks of a road environment, which puts it among the more conspicuous options here without going fluorescent. 🔵 The known weakness is ultraviolet: red pigment fades faster than most, and a helmet left strapped to a bike through a summer will lose depth. Keep it out of direct sun when parked, and never dry-wipe the gloss.
HIRP, ECE 22.06 and DOT
What you are buying structurally: a HIRP thermoplastic shell, a polystyrene impact liner, and dual ECE 22.06 / DOT homologation.
🔵 What you are not buying is a composite shell or a low weight — and that is most of why the helmet costs what it does.
The single-action sun visor
Two screens sit in front of your eyes on this helmet: the MT-V-28B main visor, and the single-action drop-down shield behind it.
🔵 Between them there is no light condition on a European road that needs a visor change — which on a helmet with no supplied anti-fog insert is a useful piece of flexibility.
MT-QVSS, and the anti-fog insert you buy separately
The visor system is one of three places where the Braker SV is better specified than its price suggests, alongside the sun shield and the dual homologation.
🔵 MT-QVSS two-button release, ready for Pinlock DKS435 or FogOff FOG010 — with the insert itself a separate purchase.
Three intakes and a spoiler that vents
The complete ventilation specification: three air intakes and an integrated rear spoiler with an exhaust.
🔵 That is what MT documents. No independent measurement of the Braker SV's airflow exists, so we describe the layout rather than the result.
The MT-Micrometric+ closure
A closure is the least glamorous part of a helmet and the one that has to work every single time. MT-Micrometric+ is a micrometric ratchet — quick, precise and glove-friendly.
🔵 It needs its adjustment checked every few months, which a double-D ring does not.
Interior, fit and the nose deflector
Everything that touches skin comes out for washing, and the supplied nose deflector comes out too if you prefer the airflow in summer.
🔵 On a helmet worn daily in all weather, being able to renew the interior is what decides whether it lasts three years or one.
Universal UCS intercom mount
MT fits a universal UCS mount across much of its range rather than reserving intercom provision for the dearer models, and the Braker SV is one of the helmets that benefits.
🔵 Nothing is supplied with the helmet — the mount is the provision.
Where it sits in MT's range
🔵 The dual ECE 22.06 / DOT approval is the specification that most distinguishes the Braker SV from MT's cheaper full-face helmets, and it is genuinely useful if the helmet will ever be ridden outside Europe.
The Stinger 2 below it carries ECE only.
When something wears out
Washing the lining is the single most effective maintenance you can do, and when washing is no longer enough, complete replacement linings and cheek pads are available.
🔵 On a helmet at this price, being repairable is what decides whether it lasts three years or one.

Specification
- Model — MT-Helmets Braker SV
- Part number — 1346D23C5103
- Colour — Cockpit C5 — Gloss red
- Homologation — ECE 22.06 and DOT — road-legal across ECE markets and in the United States
- 🔴 Safety rating — none — SHARP has never listed the Braker SV; no ADAC or Snell result, and no independent road test has been published
- Helmet type — Full-face, entry sport-touring
- Shell — HIRP (High Impact Resistant Polymer)
- Weight — approx. 1525 g
- Sizes — XS to XXXL (seven sizes)
- Visor — MT-V-28B with MT-QVSS two-button tool-free quick release
- 🔴 Anti-fog — ready for Pinlock® DKS435 or FogOff FOG010 — neither insert is supplied
- Sun visor — single-action drop-down shield — one movement of the slider
- Ventilation — three air intakes and an integrated rear spoiler with an air exhaust. 🔴 No independent measurement of the airflow exists
- Retention — MT-Micrometric+ micrometric closure
- Interior — fully removable and washable
- Communication — universal UCS intercom mount — takes standard communicators; no system supplied
- Also supplied — nose deflector
- Impact liner — expanded polystyrene — crushes once and does not recover; replace the helmet after any real impact
- Serviceability — visor, anti-fog insert, sun shield, lining, cheek pads and nose deflector all available separately
- Made for — commuting, country roads and moderate distances — not a long-distance touring helmet
- Manufacturer — MT-Helmets (MT Helmets, Spain)
- Replacement guidance — after around five years of use regardless of condition, and immediately after any impact
- Worth budgeting — an anti-fog insert — Pinlock DKS435 or FogOff FOG010 — before the first cold month. Neither is supplied, and a winter commute mists the visor at every stop without one
- Compared with the Stinger 2 — that helmet costs 30 € less and has no sun visor, no DOT approval and no spoiler. Both use HIRP shells homologated to ECE 22.06 — the difference is equipment, not protection standard
- Compared with the Thunder 4 R SV — that helmet costs 42 € more and adds a Pinlock DKS435 insert in the box plus roughly 25 g less weight, on the same HIRP platform
- Care — wash the lining by hand a few times a season; never wipe the visor or the sun shield dry, as road dust scratches both permanently
- Sizing note — measure around the widest part of your head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and try the size the chart gives you. A helmet that can be rolled forward off your head with the strap fastened is too large

“MCN calls it a shrewd budget choice and the numbers agree: quiet at road speeds, decent airflow, a sun visor that locks properly and no rattles. At 115 € the only thing it really gives up is weight.”
