DescriptionThe whole story▼

Darflo puts pink across a matt black shell in a single flowing gesture rather than a repeating pattern — the simplest of the coloured graphics here and one of the more effective on the road.

A four-star shell in six sizes

Six shells, nine sizes, one specification: every finish on this page uses the identical HPFC shell and the identical equipment, whether it costs 220 € or 237 €.

🔵 The difference between the two prices is paint, and nothing else. The cheapest Vector II is the helmet SHARP crashed.

Two independent results — including the criticisms

🔵 The stars do not travel to the carbon version. LS2 also sells a Vector II Carbon at 1.4 kg; SHARP tested composite fibre at 1.5 kg. Its pages carry no rating, deliberately.

🟢 If independent test data is what you are buying, this is the Vector II that has it — and it is the cheaper of the two.

Airflow that reaches your head

🔵 In winter you close the vents and rely on the supplied Pinlock 120 MaxVision; in summer you open them and use the included tinted visor. Both are in the box rather than on an accessory list.

The chin intake helps keep the visor clear in between.

About the Darflo matt black and pink graphic

A single large mark reads at distance in a way a fine repeating pattern does not; from fifty metres, which is roughly where a driver at a junction makes the decision, detailed artwork dissolves into texture while one bold sweep still registers as a shape. Combined with a colour that appears nowhere in the traffic environment, that is a genuinely useful combination rather than only a stylistic one — there is no pink on any vehicle, sign or roadside, so the eye reads it as something that does not belong and stops on it. The matt black base does the practical work: it hides handling marks and road film about as well as anything can. 🔵 The corresponding limitation is that a dark base is harder for a driver to resolve in poor light, so the pink is carrying the visibility on its own. And printed artwork cannot be repaired after a deep scratch the way a solid colour can. Between this and the Tropical finish at the same price, both use pink and both benefit from the same scarcity effect. Tropical is the busier of the two and adds white, which lifts the overall value; Darflo is the bolder single gesture and the more restrained overall. Both are the same helmet with the same four-star rating.

Two visors in the box, a third inside the shell

If you wear prescription glasses, an integrated shield is far more practical than prescription sunglasses or a tinted visor: it moves without removing anything, and it moves while you are riding.

🔵 Check it clears your frames when you try the helmet on — and note Certimoov's reservation about the mechanism.

Holding on, and letting go

Two things worth checking before the first ride: that the strap length is right with the helmet on, and that the visor mechanism seats properly when closed.

🔵 Both are user-serviceable, and the buckle is metal rather than plastic.

The part you actually touch

Replacement cheek pads are the most useful spare available and the least often bought. A fit that has loosened over two seasons is usually corrected with thicker pads rather than a new helmet.

🔵 The complete lining is available separately as well.

Where it sits in LS2's range

🔵 If you want the same helmet lighter, the Vector II Carbon saves 100 g. If you want the independent evidence, stay here — the carbon version has none and its pages say so.

Both share the six-shell geometry, and Certimoov's praise for compactness and field of vision applies to either.

Care and replacement parts

🔵 Wash the lining a few times a season in cool water and dry it away from direct heat. Sweat degrades foam, and the foam is what holds the helmet in position on your head.

The whole interior comes out by hand in about two minutes.

In the box

  • LS2 FF811 Vector II helmet — Darflo, Matt black and pink (HPFC composite shell)
  • Clear hardcoated visor, fitted, with tool-free change
  • Pinlock® 120 MaxVision™ anti-fog insert
  • A complete tinted visor — 🔵 daylight use only in most European jurisdictions
  • Integrated drop-down sun visor, fitted
  • Carrying backpack
  • Reflective stickers
  • 🔵 No intercom — the lining has pre-moulded pockets for LS2's Bluetooth system; the system itself is a separate purchase

Size guide

Measure at the widest part of the skull — usually just above the eyebrows at the front and around the bulge at the back, not the forehead alone.

🔵 Compare against the chart below. Nine sizes give you a genuinely fine choice.

XS 53–54 cm
S 55–56 cm
M 57–58 cm
L 59–60 cm

Specification

  • Model — LS2 FF811 Vector II
  • Part number — 168112711
  • Colour — Darflo — Matt black and pink
  • Homologation — ECE 22.06
  • 🟢 Safety rating — SHARP 4 stars of 5, tested February 2025. SHARP records composite fibre, 1.5 kg — this HPFC version, not the Vector II Carbon at 1.4 kg, which carries no rating
  • 🟢 Second opinion — Certimoov (University of Strasbourg): 3.5 of 5, on an FF811 Splitter in fibreglass. Praised: compactness („6 shell sizes!"), field of vision, equipment, road performance, price. 🔵 Criticised: getting the helmet on, and the sun visor mechanism
  • Shell — HPFC high-performance fibreglass composite; six shell sizes (2XS–XS / S / M / L / XL / 2XL–3XL–4XL)
  • Impact liner — multi-density EPS with ducted ventilation channels
  • Weight — approx. 1500 g (±50 g)
  • Sizes — XXS to 4XL (nine sizes)
  • Visor — wide, hardcoated, UV-stable, tool-free change
  • Sun visor — integrated drop-down shield, stowing fully inside the shell. 🔵 Certimoov named the mechanism as a point LS2 could improve
  • 🟢 Included — Pinlock® 120 MaxVision™ insert, a complete tinted visor, a carrying backpack and reflective stickers
  • 🔴 Tinted visor — daylight only — most European jurisdictions bar tinted visors at night
  • 🔴 Ventilation — chin and top intakes, ducted EPS, rear exhaust. Left unrated — neither SHARP nor Certimoov measures airflow and no independent road test publishes figures
  • 🔴 Wind noise — left unrated — no independent measurement is published for this model
  • Retention — micrometric metal buckle on a reinforced strap, with emergency release
  • Interior — washable, removable and hypoallergenic, with pre-moulded intercom pockets for LS2's Bluetooth system. 🔵 The fit is deliberately close — good for stability, awkward on the way on
  • 🔴 FIM homologation — none — a road helmet, not eligible for FIM-sanctioned competition
  • Serviceability — both visors, sun visor, Pinlock insert, cheek pads (several thicknesses), lining and vent covers
  • Replacement guidance — after about five years, and immediately after any impact — composite can look undamaged over crushed EPS
