DescriptionThe whole story▼
Trax lays a hard-edged graphic over the carbon rather than covering it, and the blue version is the one we would put a high-mileage rider on — it is the most under-chosen colour in motorcycling and by some distance the most practical.
A full 6K carbon shell at about 1450 grams
🔵 What three shell sizes actually buy you: correct external proportions at every head size, and a liner doing its designed job rather than acting as a spacer. Cheaper helmets use one or two shells and make up the difference in foam.
The Dragon covers 2XS–S, M–L and XL–3XL from three separate carbon mouldings.
SHARP 4 stars — and what that rating rests on
The independent result and the legal approval are two different things, and the Dragon has both: ECE 22.06 homologation for road use across Europe, and 4 SHARP stars from a programme that publishes comparative crash data.
🔵 What neither covers is fit. A five-star helmet in the wrong size protects worse than a three-star one in the right one.
Road, not race: no FIM homologation
🔵 Two limits stated plainly rather than left to be discovered. First, the Dragon is a road helmet: ECE 22.06, not FIM, so it is not eligible for FIM-sanctioned racing.
Second, the tinted visor in the box is a daylight accessory — across most European jurisdictions a tinted visor may not be used at night or in poor visibility.
About the Trax blue graphic
Blue is the finish that ages best on a helmet that gets used properly. Road film reads as a grey haze against black and as an obvious film against white and silver; against a deep gloss blue it largely disappears between washes, which over four or five seasons is the difference between a helmet that looks cared for and one that looks tired. It also sits at a usefully high position for conspicuity — well above matt carbon, close enough to the pale finishes to matter at a junction — without the visual shouting of the hi-vis version. On this shell the graphic is applied so that exposed carbon still runs through it, so you are not paying 17 € over the plain versions to hide the material you came for. 🔵 Gloss should be washed wet and dried with a soft cloth; dry-wiping a gloss coat is what produces the fine swirl marks you then cannot remove.
The Twin Visor System
🔵 If you wear prescription glasses, a drop-down shield is far more practical than either prescription sunglasses or a tinted visor. It moves without removing anything, and it moves while you are riding.
The main visor releases from its mechanism without tools, so a swap at the roadside takes seconds rather than a screwdriver.
Pinlock 120 and a second visor, both in the box
🔵 Check what a helmet includes before comparing prices. The Dragon's box contains the Pinlock 120 MaxVision insert and a second complete visor in a tint; on many rivals both are accessories, which quietly moves the real price by 60 € or more.
Also supplied: a breath deflector and a reflective safety patch.
Ventilation — documented, not measured
🔵 A note on how we treat unmeasured claims: LS2 documents chin and crown intakes, EPS channelling and a rear exhaust, all carbon. That is a feature list. No published test measures how much air actually moves, so the ventilation bar on this page is left blank rather than guessed.
The breath deflector and Pinlock 120 handle fogging directly.
Double D-ring and the Emergency Release System
🔵 If you have not used a double D-ring before: thread the strap through both rings, back through the inner ring only, and pull. It locks under load, releases with a tug on the red tab, and it is the closure every FIM-homologated helmet uses.
The Dragon also carries an Emergency Release System for the cheek pads.
X-Static lining, head shape and comfort
🔵 The independent road test worth reading on fit is Flies on the Visor, which found the Dragon enveloping, with a close neck roll, and concluded that it is „boringly brilliant" — meaning it does everything competently and gives you nothing to complain about.
LS2 specifies the shape as Intermediate Oval; the lining is removable and washable.
Where it sits in LS2's range
🔵 If you want a lighter helmet without a sun visor and with FIM approval, that is the FF805 Thunder GP Pro FIM. If you want a drop-down shield, a Pinlock in the box and a spare tinted visor, this is the one.
Both are carbon; they answer different questions.
When something wears out
🔵 Look after the visor above everything else. Never wipe it dry — grit dragged across the surface leaves fine scratches, and scratches flare against oncoming headlights in exactly the conditions where you need to see.
Wet it, wash it, dry it with a soft cloth. Replacement clear and tinted visors are available.
In the box
- LS2 FF807 Dragon helmet — Trax (6K carbon monocoque)
- Clear main visor, fitted, with button lock and tool-free quick release

- 🔵 No intercom — the helmet is prepared for the current LS2 Bluetooth system; the system itself is a separate purchase
Size guide
🔵 The weight varies with the shell. LS2 quotes roughly 1450 g for the middle shell; independent measurement put the smallest at about 1280 g and the largest at about 1500 g.

- 🟢 Safety rating — SHARP 4 stars of 5, tested August 2025. 🔵 SHARP's entry reads „LS2 Dragon GP Carbon" with no FF807 code; weight (1.45 kg), carbon shell, double D-ring and body style all match exactly, and LS2 makes only one Dragon
- 🔴 FIM homologation — none — a road helmet, not eligible for FIM-sanctioned competition. LS2's FIM helmet is the FF805 Thunder GP Pro FIM
- Shell — 6K carbon monocoque — carbon throughout, not a carbon layer over composite; three shell sizes (2XS–S / M–L / XL–3XL)
- Impact liner — multi-density EPS with moulded ventilation channels
- Weight — approx. 1450 g (±50 g), middle shell; measured independently at about 1280 g (smallest shell) and 1500 g (largest)

- Anti-fog — Pinlock® 120 MaxVision™ insert included, plus a fitted breath deflector
- 🔴 Second visor — a complete tinted visor is included — daylight only: most European jurisdictions bar tinted visors at night and in poor visibility
- Ventilation — carbon-capped chin and crown intakes, EPS channels, carbon rear exhaust. 🔵 Deliberately left unrated — no independent test measures this helmet's airflow; LS2's description is a feature list, not a result
- Retention — double D-ring on a reinforced strap
- Emergency access — Emergency Release System — pull tabs let responders withdraw the cheek pads before the helmet moves
- Interior — X-Static® silver antibacterial fabric, laser-cut, fully removable and washable
- Communication — prepared for the current LS2 Bluetooth intercom — no system supplied. Reflective safety patch fitted
- Serviceability — visors (clear and tinted), Pinlock insert, cheek pads in several thicknesses, lining, carbon vent caps and breath deflector
