DescriptionThe whole story▼
Blank Pearly White is the plainest possible read of the Skwal Jet: a bright, glossy white shell with nothing printed on it, letting the shape itself — the vent intakes, the visor line, the moulded panel gaps — do all the talking. It is also the entry point into this whole line, the price and the decor every other Skwal Jet colourway is judged against.
Built for the ride to work, not the grid
Shark's own description of this helmet leans entirely on everyday language: lightweight design, clean lines, practical features, built for riders who value simplicity and mobility over a track-derived look. There is no spoiler here and no aerodynamic claim attached to this shell — unlike its pricier Jet Cup sibling, which Shark built and wind-tunnel tested specifically around a rear fin, the Skwal Jet's marketing never mentions aerodynamics once. That is not a missing feature so much as an honest description of what this helmet is for: a straightforward, open-face commuter lid, not a road-going version of a race shell.
Shell and closure
The shell is Lexan, Shark's own polycarbonate, the same material used across the rest of the 2027 Skwal range. Closure is a micrometric buckle: a ratchet strap adjusted in small steps and released with one motion, quicker to operate one-handed at a stop than a threaded ring.
What ECE 22.06 actually tests
Every Skwal Jet, this one included, is certified to ECE 22.06, the standard that became mandatory across the EU for newly homologated helmets in January 2024. The jump from the older 22.05 standard is real, not cosmetic: five impact points at one speed each becomes eighteen points tested across a range of speeds, an oblique-impact test against an abrasive anvil is added — a twisting, glancing hit rather than a straight drop — and a Brain Injury Criterion now scores rotational energy, something 22.05 never measured. Testing happens with the visor, Pinlock insert and any fitted comms unit in place. The paperwork reads Norme 2206, no FIM suffix: a road-approval code, not a competition one.
Weight, and what it means over a commute
Shark quotes 1,395 g (+/-50 g) for this helmet in its first, smallest shell size. A helmet's weight sits above the head's own centre of gravity, so every gram is carried through every turn of the head, all day — on a daily commute as much as on a longer ride. An open face carries none of a chin bar's extra mass, which is most of why this figure lands toward the lighter end of the typical road-helmet band.
Ventilation
Two intakes at the front and two extractors at the back move air through the shell in a short, direct path — there is no chin bar to route it around first. Shark's own product page states this ventilation figure directly for this model, not as a carried-over spec from another Skwal.
Visor and Pinlock
The VZ670 visor fitted here is shared with the Skwal Jet Cup and the LED-equipped Skwal i3 Jet, side-locking rather than centrally locking, with a vortex generator built into its edge and anti-scratch treatment across the surface. A Max Vision Pinlock 70 insert comes pre-fitted with adjustable tension, not sold separately. Only the clear tint is approved for every rider on the road; Shark's iridium and dark-smoke options for this shell are marked racing use only.
Sun visor and everyday use
An internal sun visor drops down on its own mechanism, independent of the main visor, and the interior is cut with room for glasses arms at the temple. Shark specifies both SENA and Sharktooth intercom compatibility for this model — a wider pairing than some Skwal siblings offer.
Fit
Sizes run XS through XXL, six in total. Shark has not published a shell-size count for this specific model the way independent press has confirmed two shells for the Skwal Jet Cup, so no claim is made here about how many moulds cover that range — the honest answer is that it is not stated, not that it must be the same as its pricier sibling.
Wind noise, honestly
An open face is louder than a full-face at speed, by construction — there is no chin bar sealing air away from the ears, and the visor's lower edge sits closer to the jaw than a full-face's chin skirt does. The visor's own vortex generator works against turbulence but does not close that gap. Shark has not published a decibel figure for this model, and none is invented here.
Where this sits on Shark's own price ladder
At 189.99 EUR, Blank is the lowest price in the entire Skwal Jet range and matches Shark's own full-face entry point, Ridill 2.
| Ridill 2 | 189.99 – 209.99 € | full-face, Shark's own entry point |
| Skwal Jet | 189.99 – 279.99 € | this helmet |
| Skwal Jet Cup | 239.99 – 309.99 € | same visor family, adds the rear spoiler this helmet does not have |
| Skwal i3 Jet | 289.99 – 349.99 € | open face, adds an LED brake light this helmet does not have |
Spare parts
Shark stocks replacement visors for the Skwal Jet in the same collection as the Skwal Jet Cup and the LED-equipped Skwal i3 Jet, all three sharing the VZ67005PINCTU Pinlock 70 part — a stock spare, not a special order.
What this helmet does not protect
This is an open-face helmet: there is no chin bar. In a front or low-side impact that would load a full-face's chin section, this shell offers nothing equivalent over the jaw and mouth — that area is simply open. ECE 22.06 tests the shell, the retention system and the visor as fitted, but it does not and cannot test protection that is not there by design. That is worth understanding plainly at this price point, not just on the more expensive decors in the range.
The finish itself
The pearly white finish has a faint, fine metallic sparkle under direct light rather than a completely flat white, which keeps it from reading chalky or matte from a distance. With no graphic anywhere on the shell, it is the decor that shows off the moulding itself — panel lines, vent shapes, the visor mechanism — more clearly than any printed colourway in this range could.
Who this suits
Blank White suits a rider who wants a helmet that goes with anything — any jacket colour, any bike — and would rather spend on tyres or servicing than on a printed graphic. It is also the easiest colour in this line to spot in low light, a small practical upside white paint has over black or matte finishes for everyday city riding.
