A plain dark tint, with no coating on it, for riders who want sun protection on track without buying into a mirror finish. In July, on a circuit with no shade, the difference between squinting through a twenty-minute session and simply riding it is worth more than any coating.
Absorption instead of reflection
A mirrored visor stops light at the surface using a metallic layer. A smoke visor absorbs it inside the lens body. Practically, that means there is no coating to scuff, no coating to fingerprint, and nothing bouncing back at your own eyes off the inner face when you ride into a low sun — a complaint mirrored visors attract and smoke visors do not. The tint is also uniform from edge to edge and behaves the same way whatever the angle, which is why a good number of racers still fit one in preference to a mirror.
Track and closed circuits only
Nolan supplies this tint for race tracks and private circuits. It carries no road homologation in Europe, it must not be used on public roads, and it has no business being on your head after dark or in poor light. Buy it as a track visor and swap the clear one back on for the ride home.
What it is made of
Italian-moulded Lexan polycarbonate with anti-scratch treatment on the inner and outer faces, cut to the same flat Ultrawide geometry as every other X-804 visor and interchangeable across all four shell sizes.
Fog is still a problem on a dark visor
The Pinlock posts are fitted. It is worth using them: a dark lens fogs exactly as readily as a clear one, and a cold, damp morning at a circuit is precisely where a dark visor gets fitted and precisely where fogging ruins a session.

Yes — the cheek pads are channelled so the arms of your glasses slide in comfortably.
Take out the washable lining and hand-wash it in lukewarm water. Clean the shell and visor with a soft cloth and water only — never solvents.
