DescriptionThe whole story

Zero Pro is the X.TR reduced to its shell: exposed weave, no graphic over it. It sits above the Rush versions for one reason, which is that a finish with nothing on it has to be flawless underneath.

Two independent tests — and where they disagree

🔵 If you ride in genuinely hot weather, weigh the second reviewer's caveat carefully: this helmet is insulated for quiet, and insulation works in both directions. A pale shell helps considerably more than any vent setting at a standstill.

At speed the airflow is excellent — measured 5/5 on a zero-degree interior delta.

About the Zero Pro Carbon finish

A painted shell can hide small cosmetic imperfections in the layup; an exposed-weave one cannot, which is why bare-carbon versions of any helmet cost more than painted ones built on the identical shell. What you pay for is the quality of the surface rather than extra material. The consequence is repairability: a deep scratch through the lacquer into exposed weave is permanent, where paint can be touched in. 🔵 It is also the least conspicuous version here, because carbon reads as very dark grey in every light condition that matters — and this is a helmet built for motorway distance.

The X-PRO Carbon shell

Carbon costs more for two reasons and only one is material: the layup is more labour-intensive, and on exposed-weave finishes the surface has to be good enough to show. That is why the bare-carbon Zero Pro sits above the painted Rush versions built on the identical shell.

This is X-PRO Carbon at 1625 g claimed, in three outer sizes.

Shell Construction Weight (Nexx) Decors
X-Matrix2 multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite 1750 g ±50 Plain, Quanta
X-PRO Carbon carbon fibre 1625 g Rush, Zero Pro, Atlantic

X-Block N'Seal — a visor that locks

Three optical layers on this helmet: the locking outer visor with its fitted Pinlock 120 XLT lens, and the ultra-wide internal sun visor behind them. Rain, fog and glare are all covered without changing anything at the roadside.

🔵 A second clear visor and an optional photochromic one extend that further.

The ultra-wide sun visor

A fixed tinted visor commits you for a whole ride; a drop-down shield does not. On a touring day that starts at dawn and ends after dark, that difference decides whether the helmet works at all.

🔵 The X.TR's shield is ultra-wide and reaches to just above the nose bridge.

Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer

The liner in this helmet is two shells rather than one, separated by rubber. That construction is why the X.TR behaves differently at sustained speed from a conventional sport-touring helmet — and why it is not the lightest in its class.

🔵 It is a comfort system. The impact protection comes from the EPS and the shell.

Two intakes, two chambers — and a 5/5 measurement

🔵 If you ride mostly in heat and mostly slowly, weigh the second reviewer's caveat: the X.TR is insulated for quiet, and insulation works in both directions. Nexx's X.WST3 is less insulated and measured 4/5 on cooling.

At touring speed the X.TR's airflow is the best measured in the range: 5/5.

Chin curtain, neck roll and how quiet it is

Noise fatigue is cumulative over a riding day in a way a single measurement cannot convey, and it is the reason touring helmets are engineered for quiet in the first place. The X.TR carries a large chin curtain, an anti-noise neck roll and a rear spoiler for exactly that.

🔵 One test measured 103 dB and scored 3/5; another called the noise minimal.

Interior, retention and fit

Everything that touches skin comes out: cheek pads through the F.R.S. mechanism, crown pad, chin-strap covers and the breath guard. All of it is X-Mart Dry, and all of it washes.

🔵 Retention is a metal micrometric ratchet — quick, finely adjustable and workable in gloves.

1625 grams, and the rest of the honest list

Three outer shell sizes mean the weight you receive depends on your size — an XXXL carries considerably more material than an XXS. The published 1625 g does not state which size it describes.

🔵 Neither shell in this model has been independently weighed.

Comms, camera and spare parts

A photochromic visor is available as an option for this helmet, alongside the tinted range. It darkens with UV and clears at dusk, which on a long touring day removes the need to carry a second visor at all.

🔵 The helmet ships with a clear visor plus a clear spare and a fitted Pinlock 120 XLT lens.

“Here is the thing worth knowing before you pay the carbon premium: measured in size M, the carbon X.TR came in at 1,700 g against the composite's 1,657 g. It is not lighter, and it has the same ventilation limits.”
