DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plain Black is the entry point to the X.LIFECOUNTRY and the version without a graphic. Same P/J chin bar, same removable peak, same Silent Travel Seal as everything above it.
Versatile in two directions — and what the peak costs
The X.LIFECOUNTRY is versatile in two directions at once, which is unusual. As a flip-up it opens at a stop and closes for the miles; as an adventure helmet the peak fits for the trail and comes off for the road.
🔵 Both kinds of versatility cost weight, and this helmet carries both. An independent test measured 2042 g kitted and scored weight 1 out of 5.
The peak is removable and adjustable, with a screwless extensor supplied for riding into low sun. It shades the eyes, deflects spray and stones from the rider ahead, and gives the shell its adventure line.
🔵 It also catches air. Independent measurement put this helmet at 101 dB against its peakless sibling's 96 dB — the peak costs roughly 5 dB.
About the gloss black finish
An adventure flip-up carries more visible structure than almost any other helmet — a peak, a chin-bar seam, pivot covers, vent housings — and gloss black pulls all of it into one continuous surface rather than a set of assembled parts. On a large adventure machine already carrying luggage and guards, that unity is usually the right call. The practical case is the familiar one: road film against dark clear coat is maximum contrast, and dry-wiping leaves permanent swirls. 🔵 It is also the least conspicuous version here, on a helmet ridden on unfamiliar and often unlit roads.
P/J homologation and the Super Locker chin bar
P/J dual homologation means this helmet is certified and legal to ride with the chin bar open as well as closed — not every flip-up is, and riding a closed-only helmet open is not legal in most of Europe.
The Super Locker pivot locks solidly in both positions, with stainless steel and special aluminium closure components rather than plastic.
The X-Matrix2 shell
This version uses the X-Matrix2 shell — a multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite — in two outer shell sizes covering XS to XXXL. Claimed weight is around 1800 g ±50 stripped.
🔵 The carbon version is quoted 150 g lighter. Independent testing of a kitted carbon example returned 2042 g, so expect this shell to be heavier again in use.
2042 grams — the number to weigh
🔵 This is a heavy helmet and there is no way to present it otherwise. An independent test weighed a kitted carbon example at 2042 g and scored weight 1 out of 5 — the lowest mark on the scale. This fibreglass shell is 150 g heavier again stripped.
A flip-up hinge plus an adventure peak is the heaviest combination in helmet design, and this helmet has both.
X-Sensus Vision, X-SWIFT and two visors
X-Sensus Vision is the aperture: an eye port 15 % larger than the standard requires, which on an adventure helmet used standing on the pegs as well as seated is a genuine advantage rather than a number.
The visor changes tool-free through X-SWIFT, a Pinlock® 70 MaxVision lens comes fitted, a second clear visor is in the box, and a drop-down sun visor sits behind it.
Two closable intakes and the Mid Airflow Chamber
Ventilation is two closable intakes and two exhausts, plus the patent-pending Mid Airflow Chamber that circulates fresh air around the head and vents hot air out at the rear.
🔵 It measured well: independent testing scored the ventilation 4 out of 5 — the second-best result of any Nexx helmet tested.
101 decibels — and what the peak costs
Noise measured 101 dB at 130 km/h and scored 3 out of 5 — and the comparison worth making is with this helmet's own peakless sibling, which measured 96 dB.
🔵 The peak costs roughly 5 dB. Take it off for a motorway day and you recover most of that.
Morpho-Fit interior and F.R.S.
The interior is Morpho-Fit: a 3D-shaped, seamless X-Mart Dry liner with multi-channel ventilation built into it. Seamless matters over distance — a seam is where a pressure point starts at hour four.
🔵 Comfort scored 3/5 in independent testing, and the fit was found intermediate-to-round oval. That is rounder than most premium helmets.
Where it sits in Nexx's range
The X.LIFECOUNTRY is the adventure half of Nexx's flip-up pair. The other half, the X.LIFETOUR, is the same platform without the peak — lighter, quieter at 96 dB against 101 dB, and the only Nexx helmet with a SHARP rating.
🔵 If your riding is tarmac, buy that one. This helmet exists for riders whose route leaves it.
Comms, cameras and spare parts
The X-COM3 system integrates into the shell with Bluetooth 5, and there are two action-camera mounts — top and side — rather than the single mount most helmets offer.
🔵 Neither the comms system nor a camera is supplied. A removable wind deflector and breath guard are, along with moulded night-vision reflectors.

“At 2,042 g measured this is the heaviest helmet in our entire range — nearly 700 g more than the X.RALLY carbon. Add ventilation that Bennetts call disappointing for an adventure helmet and the case gets hard to make, clever flip front or not.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06 with dual homologation — full-face and open.
X-Matrix 2 shell in two sizes.
Peak fitted and removable; no goggle conversion.
Disappointing for the category, by Bennetts' account.
Quieter than most, thanks to a tight neck seal.
Comfortable but plainer than the carbon version.
Sun visor, flip front and peak in one helmet.
2,042 g measured — the heaviest helmet we sell.
The adventure flip front, in its heaviest form.
480 € for two kilos on your neck.
