DescriptionThe whole story▼
Green with beige is the most unusual combination MT offers on this helmet and the only earth-toned finish in the range. It reads as a deliberate choice rather than a default, which at this price is rare.
What this helmet is — and what changed for the R
The Thunder line is the helmet MT is known for, and the 4 R is its current generation. The changes over the 4 SV are targeted rather than cosmetic: enlarged intakes, a reworked spoiler, a better visor action and a Pinlock insert in the box.
🔵 The 4 SV's MCN verdict of 4/5 is the closest thing to independent evidence, and it describes the previous helmet.
About the Revelant C6 graphic
Earth tones belong to the landscape rather than to a race paddock, and on a helmet worn with ordinary clothing rather than a matching suit that is usually the more comfortable register. Green and beige also happens to be a genuinely durable pairing — it carries no reference to a particular season's palette, so it will look current in five years in a way a bright graphic will not. Practically it sits mid-range: better at hiding road film than the pale versions, more visible in flat light than the blacks. 🔵 A printed graphic cannot be touched in after a stone strike, unlike a solid colour.
The SHARP stars that belong to a different Thunder
🔵 The honest position on safety evidence for this helmet: full ECE 22.06 homologation, an MCN 4/5 road test of its predecessor, and no laboratory star rating of any kind.
If you find one quoted, check the model name — SHARP's four-star Thunders are earlier helmets.
HIRP, two shells and ECE 22.06
Seven sizes from XS to 3XL across two outer shells is a wide range, and it is worth knowing if you are hard to fit — a great many helmets in this class stop at XS and XXL.
The construction is HIRP thermoplastic, homologated to ECE 22.06.
MT-QVSS, the visor lock and the Pinlock in the box
Two things separate this visor system from typical entry-level ones: MT-QVSS tool-free swapping, and a lock against unintended opening. Both are features that normally appear a price bracket or two higher.
🔵 The Pinlock DKS435 insert is the third, and it comes in the box.
The integrated sun visor
A fixed tinted visor commits you for a whole ride; a drop-down shield does not. On a commute that starts in one light and ends in another, that difference decides whether the helmet works at all.
🔵 This one deploys with a single slider and retracts fully.
Enlarged intakes and a revised spoiler
Airflow only happens if there is somewhere for the air to go, which is why the reworked spoiler matters as much as the enlarged intakes — it shapes the low-pressure region the exhausts vent into.
🔵 Both changed for the 4 R. The previous generation's ventilation was independently described as its main weakness.
Interior, fit and retention
🔵 A helmet worn for a daily commute lives or dies on small ergonomics: how quickly the buckle fastens, whether the sun visor slider can be found in gloves, how easily the lining comes out. The Thunder 4 R SV answers all three deliberately.
Micrometric ratchet, single-slider sun visor, fully removable washable lining.
Intercom preparation and speaker pockets
🔵 If you rely on navigation prompts, the combination that matters on this helmet is the speaker pockets and the sun visor: one keeps the audio comfortable, the other keeps you from squinting at a phone screen in sunlight at a junction.
The intercom is a separate purchase; the provision is built in.
Where it sits in MT's range
🔵 If you want an MT with a sun visor in a different body type, the range covers most of them: the Atom 2 SV and Genesis R SV are flip-ups, the Cosmo SV is a jet, and the Track SV is the adventure helmet.
All are HIRP; all are ECE 22.06.
When something wears out
🔵 The nose deflector supplied with the helmet is worth fitting even if you take it out in summer. It redirects exhaled air downwards rather than up the inside of the visor, which is what stops the visor misting at a standstill.
It works alongside the supplied Pinlock DKS435 lens rather than duplicating it.

Specification
- Model — MT-Helmets Thunder 4 R SV
- Part number — 1375D51C6103
- Colour — Revelant C6 — Gloss, green and beige
- Homologation — ECE 22.06 — the current European standard
- 🔴 Safety rating — none. SHARP's four-star „MT Thunder" and „MT Thunder 3" are different, earlier models; the Thunder 4, 4 SV and 4 R have not been tested. No ADAC or Snell result either
- Independent verdict — MOTORCYCLE NEWS 4/5 — 🔴 for the predecessor Thunder 4 SV („surprisingly good for less than £120"), which named ventilation as its main weakness. No test of the 4 R exists yet
- Helmet type — Full-face, everyday / commuting
- Shell — HIRP (High Impact Resistant Polymer); two outer shell sizes
- Weight — approx. 1500 g ±50 — 🔴 MT publishes no separate figure for the 4 R; this is the documented Thunder 4 SV / HIRP-platform weight
- Sizes — XS to 3XL (seven sizes)
- Visor — MT-V-28C on the MT-M-28X mechanism, with MT-QVSS tool-free quick swap and a lock against unintended opening
- Anti-fog — Pinlock® DKS435 MaxVision included as standard
- Sun visor — integrated drop-down, single slider, retracts fully into the shell
- Ventilation — enlarged intakes and a revised spoiler for this generation — MT's answer to the criticism levelled at the Thunder 4 SV
- Retention — micrometric ratchet buckle
- Interior — fully removable and washable, with dedicated speaker pockets
- Communication — prepared for MT-B01 (MT Rider Sync) — system sold separately
- Also supplied — nose deflector
- Impact liner — expanded polystyrene — crushes once and does not recover; replace the helmet after any real impact
- Serviceability — visor, Pinlock lens, lining, cheek pads, sun visor and nose deflector all available separately
- Replacement guidance — after around five years of use regardless of condition, and immediately after any impact
- Manufacturer — MT-Helmets (MT Helmets, Spain)
- Sizing note — measure around the widest part of your head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows. With two outer shell sizes, try the size the chart gives you rather than ordering by tape alone — the fit at the shell boundary is less precise than on a three-shell helmet
- Made for — commuting, everyday riding and country roads at ordinary speeds — not a long-distance touring or track helmet
- Care — wash the lining by hand a few times a season; never wipe the visor or the sun visor dry, as road dust scratches both permanently
